01. Nolan feat. Idris Elba - Children Of House (Of Norway Version) [Connaisseur Recordings | cns066-6]
Nolan returns to Connaisseur this ‘month’ with renowned actor Idris Elba on vocals for ‘Children of House’, Of Norway and Timo Garcia on remix duty.
‘Children of House’ is Nolan’s second release with the German imprint Connaisseur following his ‘Ghetto Bicep’ EP that saw big support from the likes of Wolf + Lamb, Droog & Maceo Plex back in 2012. The Brighton based producer re-joins an impressive roster of artists such as Kollektiv Turnstrasse, Ripperton, Afrilounge and Chymera with this release.
Blurring the lines between disco and house Nolan’s productions have previously found homes at notable labels such as OFF Recordings, Get Physical, Nervous Records and Audiojack’s imprint, Gruuv. Nolan and iconic actor Idris Elba join forces for a collaborative single here via Connaiseur Recordings, Elba’s unmistakeable voice is layered up with an infectious house groove, intricately crafted with the production skills and discerning house music knowledge of Nolan and Idris.
Opener ‘Children of House’ is a warm down tempo bit of house music with whirring synths, mechanical clamours and processed vocal. Elba’s verbal provisions are systematically distorted and deliver an expressive message that disparages the new musical movement of EDM. For ‘Bass Drop’ Nolan’s disco edge really shines through with a playful whacked out house rhythm that really gets in your bones.
On remix duty Of Norway deliver distorted stabs of sub bass and tumbling keynotes in a slightly pacier version (the Scandinavian duo will also release their debut LP ‘Accretion’ on Connaisseur on May 30th). Timo Garcia completely reimagines things with a jolting low down house cut, with skipping drums and multiple claps making for a particularly kinetic final product.
Sjulle Anker provides the sublime artwork for the vinyl.

Suol is an independent Berlin based record label, which strives to develop, support and promote the visions of the founders and artists. Stylistically seen, Suol aims to release deep, grounded and organic music with great emotions. Suol has become a caring home for artists such as Fritz Kalkbrenner, Till von Sein, Trickski, Daniel Bortz and Chopstick & Johnjon who all feel at ease to release their music because of it's sophisticated musical continuity, which is crucial to Suol.
Original released as Suol048 :
"After one whole year without a full release, Chopstick & Johnjon are now back on track, sending out the first vanguard of their upcoming debut album. For ‚Roots’ they team up with Signaljacker a.k.a. Chris James of the infamous UK-Band Stateless (Ninja Tune, !K7).
The title track comes in two different moods - the dreamy, almost melancholic Original Mix plus the rather bright Alternative Mix, spreading a whiff of Summer, still never undermining the intensity and genuineness of James´ vocals."
03. Joy Wellboy - Before The Sunrise (Dixon Remix) [Bpitch Control | BPC286EP]
Since last year, Joy Adegoke and Wim Janssens aka Joy Wellboy belong to our BPitch Control family. In addition to their contribution for the "Where The Wind Blows' compilation, the debut record "Yorokobi's Mantra' was one of the highlights for BPC in 2013. After their single "Mickey Remedy', the opener of the LP "Before The Sunrise' now comes in four different versions.
The Tension Dub version of BPC veteran Kiki equip the original with its downtempo drive and poppy flair with a pumping attitude, while the spiral synths and a proper bass structure will pull you clearly towards the dance-floor. Kiki's second remix transform pop into deep house and with the emphasis of the lyrics - What if this is happening', he caters for a nice phantasm - somewhere between absent- mindedness and doubt.
The remix of Dixon may be listed already for the best-of lists 2014. The co-founder of berlin-based label Innervisions and magic bullet speaking of remixes, emphasises not only the dreamy side of the original, but let his trademark sound unfold that distinguishes his much celebrated sets: a glorious melody, the vocals of Joy and this Dixon warmth, fed by pathos and romance. Focus on the yearning supplication of Joy's wonderful timbre - we're simply melting away!
In addition to the radio edit of 'Before The Sunrise', the interpretation of Matthew Patterson Curry aka Safety Scissors knows how to spread his talent. In order of a sweeping climax he passes on the vocals, because before sunrise nothing is more important than to enjoy the here and now. Carpe diem!
Release Date: 23.05.2014
Original released on the Yorokobi's Mantra LP [BPC267].
In their home country of Belgium and neighbouring France Joy Wellboy have enjoyed cult status for some time – although they have not released a great number of records up to now. However, there can be no doubt that their big break has arrived, as Joy Wellboy's debut album Yorokobi's Mantra is certainly one of the contenders for the highlight of 2013.
What makes this amiable duo from Brussels so special? One factor is undoubtedly the fact that Joy Adegoke and Wim Janssens are romantically as well as musically attached. "I love her manic part," confides Wim. "He puts my feet on the ground," says Joy. Completely different yet entirely compatible, the two characters and their individual musical expression combine in perfect symbiosis: Joy's boundless creativity and sure-fire sense of a catchy melody are channelled by Wim, who effortlessly forms them into flawless arrangements and memorable tracks with a unique sound.
If, after the celebrated single Flush Me, you're expecting the duo to focus exclusively on the realm of slick electro-pop, you'll be pleasantly surprised that Joy Wellboy's range extends considerably further. Yorokobi's Mantra is a grand pop spectacle in the most positive sense. In its thematic exploration of life's highs and lows, Joy Wellboy's debut album sounds both cool and emotional, powerful and energy-laden, extremely accessible but never pandering to expectations.
Each of the twelve songs develops an atmosphere of disarming beauty in the space left between Joy's vocals and Wim's electronic textures. Happy-go-lucky pop songs like I Can Handle and What Baby are just as convincing as the haunting duet Lay Down Your Blade. The tracks range from the meticulously arranged, full-on electronica trip On the Beach to the wonderfully intimate vocal and piano ballad Rain Drop Races. Beautiful, no-frills synth-pop songs like Caress already whet the appetite for single and remix releases. Yet Yorokobi's Mantra sounds entirely coherent as an album – a bold and mature debut, and definitely the start of an exciting and successful future for Joy Wellboy.

Out May 2014 - Shall Ocin vs. FiberRoot
Ellum Audio are back for another killer release with a double sided, two track bomb which sees Shall Ocin take the A-side and FiberRoot take the B-side. Shall Ocin’s ‘Lurking Wolves’ hits with a thundering bass and driving force with trippy melodies and sonic FX zooming through the atmospherics with powerful impact, while FiberRoot’s ‘Space Localizer’ rumbles and grumbles in the lower end, building into emotive warm keys before kicking straight back into the deep groove.
o+ Originally from Argentina, Shall Ocin aka Nicolas Abalos first started releasing music in 2010 under the name Paneoh on labels such as Bedrock and Connect Four. Now under the name Shall Ocin he releases on labels such as Ellum Audio, Culprit LA, Get Physical and Leftroom Limited.

05. Guy J - Dizzy Moments [Lost & Found | LF013]
Guy J returns home to Lost & Found with two absolute monster tracks! And for the first time in the labels history, these tracks will be available on vinyl as well digital download.
Let's get straight to business then and its Dizzy Moments kicking us off. A techno grooved workout with percussive layers meeting subtle yet ethereal pads, creating a warm atmospheric vibe. The track expands with the sounds growing as the elements ooze from within, creating an epic melodic masterpiece as delays interact creating a dreamy smile inducing gem of a track that we are positive will create a serious fuss and will send clubbers wild.
Diaspora grinds in to action from the off, with its slightly tribal tinged percussion, brooding bass stabs and cool fx setting the mood, swiftly followed by creeping pads that lighten the vibe while adding an air of mystery, dropping its fierceness, but only temporarily, before we pound back in to action. Gated chords meet cool keys as we meander around the ups and downs of this monster. Another serious slab of dance floor devastation from Guy.
Two outstanding tracks that will no doubt be flying straight in to many a DJ's playlist at rapid speed.

07. Vince Watson - Aurelon (Nick Muir Edit) [Bedrock Records | Promo]
Vince Watson's 'Aurelion' has been doing the rounds in various guises since 2002, when a white label copy of 'Nico Awtsventin - Fracturhythms Vol 2' with no info on the labels. An A4 release note credited the artist as Vince Watson and titles the release as Aurelon, with Altitude and Abstractions 2 as the B1 and B2.
The subsequent release was on Vince Watson's Bio Music [BIO008] established in 1999 and winding up with a final release due in 2014.
Original 2002 Release Notes:
"After a break from Bio to drop some tracks on other labels (including Ben Sims' Native) Vince Watson returns to Bio with an outstanding EP - 3 tracks of very different styles confirming Vince as one of the most versatile producers on the scene today. Aurelion on the A-side is an uplifting, driving, jaguar-esque piece with lichee melodies and thumbing floor elements with a Detriot edge for good measure. On the flip we have altitude a more deeper approach with that low baseline and chord structures giving this track the BIO effect. Then we have 'Abstractions 2', combining hard and dubby techno vibes to create a track fans of basic channel would love. With the imminent release of his second LP, along with Bio008, 2002 looks like its going to be a massive year for Vince and Bio." [BIO008]
Watson was never entirely happy with the mastering of Aurelon, leading him to revisit the original and bring it up to date, resulting in 'Aurelon 10' on Bedrock.
"John has been wanting music from me for ages, but I never got round to finishing the tracks I wanted to give him….’Aurelon’ was going to be the final farewell release on my Bio label later this year, but I changed the plans and thought it would be better to give it to Bedrock to release for me and created ‘Magma’ for the flip side. There will now be a final Bio release later in the summer with a different track listing. The next Bedrock single is already in the works." [Vince Watson]
"Right, I've got tons of label news to share....first one out of the hat, AURELON 10!!!! Im delighted to announce a brand new modern recreation of Aurelon to celebrate its 10th anniversary is now complete and will be released on John Digweed's Bedrock label. Backing it up will be 'Magma'. Both tracks are seriously powerful and I'm well overdue for this kinda stuff again. Cant wait…" [Vince Watson]
"Masters for my Bedrock single are here. BOOOM! Literally. What a bang. 'Aurelon 10' is coming....a long time in the making! True to the original but brought into 2014." [Vince Watson]
2014 Release Notes:
Bedrock Records warmly welcome Vince Watson to the label with his debut release for them in the form of "Magma" and "Aurelon 10". This two track release is his first adventure with Bedrock and both tracks have been firm regulars in John Digweed's sets for most of the year after the reception they both received at the Bedrock 15 birthday party and Fabric in London at the end of last year.
"Aurelon" was a big release for Vince and featured many remixes over the years but as it was mastered poorly and also running at 135 bpm Vince always wanted to rework it and get it out mastered properly and sounding fresh and he's done a remarkable job as you will no doubt hear and see when you play it.
Reactions so far have been great to both tracks and with the success of his recent releases on Planet E and Poker Flat Recordings along with remixes for the likes of Suara it looks like this is set to continue.

08. Coyu & Ramiro Lopez - That's Not Happening [Bedrock Records | Beddigi-48]
Coyu made his debut on Bedrock with his stunning remix of 'Matter of Time' by The Japanese Popstars Feat. Green Velvet which is still garnering lots of support from many DJ's with Pan Pot playing it recently in their broadcasted set from the Timewarp festival meaning it has barely left the Beatport top 50 Techno Chart in the past 5 months. His own Suara releases and label have also been hugely championed by the DJing elite.
Following on from this success both Coyu and Bedrock wanted to further this great relationship and a new EP from Coyu and Ramiro Lopez was signed to the label. One of these tracks 'Diferencias' featured on the acclaimed Underground Sound of Miami Series 3 CD release and now "That's Not Happening EP" is the next release due out on May 12th. The four tracks on the EP all have that fantastic groovy techno feel to them with tough beats and swung percussion with scattered vocal snippets. The title track 'That's Not Happening' has been a big track for both Coyu and John Digweed over the past few months with it's vocals catching the attention of dancefloors worldwide.
All in all this a huge EP that will no doubt appeal to many and get repeated and regular plays over the summer months.
