Balkan Connection Records proudly presents ''Mermaids & Sea Creatures'' by Ioan Gamboa. EP consists of three high quality progressive house tracks written and produced by Ioan for your listening pleasure. We hope you'll enjoy them and leave us your kind comments/feedbacks.

Ioan Gamboa is a Spanish electronic music producer who has settled his studio in Berlin, where he is absorbing, at first hand, the flowing energy of this rockin city. While searching the way to improve his past productions, his creations got the support of Hernan Cattaneo with a release on Sudbeat label: 'Spiral EP', which was also honoured with a powerful remix by Cattaneo and Soundexile of the track that named the EP.

Since then, releases have came out in labels alike, near to the sounds and style he really wants to achieve. These latest releases have been supported and charted by artists like Hernan Cattaneo (Sudbeat/Renaissance), John Digweed (Bedrock) Henry Saiz (Reinassance/Natura Sonoris) or Nick Warren (Hope Recordings)

          Released by: Balkan Connection
          Release/catalogue number: BALKAN0276
          Release date: 7 April 2014

          04. Nick Dow - Before The Feast (Armour Plated EP) [Traum Schallplatten | Traum V175]

Following his spectacular debut release on Traum "The Insect Parade" in January 2014, Nick Dow has now written 3 new tracks that form this upcoming EP.

The EP starts with the title track "Armour Plated". What you see is not what you get one could say when Nick Dow kicks off with a classic techno sequence techno icon Richie Hawtin could have written for Plus 8 when step by step the track converts itself into another one of Nick Dow's enigmatic pieces of melodic techno."Armour Plated" seems to be moulded out of one piece.

There is an overall movement in this track which is organic, complex and yet still stunningly simple to grasp. Nathan Fake was often referred to in the past to have the ability to write this kind of music and now it seems to be that Scottish Nick Dow chucks out complexity in hymn like formats like few others can. These uncountable euphoric moments Nick Dow manages to come up with, make "Armour Plated" an electronic roller coaster of a song. It can throw you in different directions all at the same time while in the background the most beautiful things happen. Shaping a fascinating antagonisms seems to come natural to Nick Dow. It's the end of "wanderlust" and the beginning of "herzenslust" for Nick Dow. Keep your armuor plated.

"Goujian" starts like a Cabaret Voltaire track from 1984 a silent breed of noise when with a twist it catapults itself into another hemisphere of noise, deconstruction, glitches, cut up sounds. An eruption of sound, building like a tidal wave, with hundreds of vertical spiral shaped oxygen pillars to support it for the time of being this track is rocker in a big way and the answer for everyone who wants to really freak out on the dance floor again. Something we really look forward to witness!

"Before The Feast" starts as slack tune and mighty groover but step by step skilfully layers melodies and sounds and takes them away to create a nice deep emotional pice of music with ups and downs and a sheer elevating beauty that enters the track from time to time, putting him next to Max Coopers music on Traum.

          Released by: Traum Schallplatten
          Release/catalogue number: Traum V175
          Release date: 5 May 2014

          05. Chris Fortier - Music Makes The Body (Him Self Her Remix) [Selador Recordings | Promo]

Forthcoming on Selador in July. Package incl. a Wehbba remix.

They say that strength comes in numbers - and two is certainly mighty when it comes to dynamic duo Him_self_Her.

Hailing from Leicester in the UK, the astute combination of Claire and Leon came together after honing individual skills for many years on their local scene. All that it took was one studio session to realise the potency of their union; and what a union it is.

Infusing all genres of underground house, from deep grooves, to driving tech - right through to disco enhanced techno, they love to play with bold house vocals, be it through well sourced samples or self penned hits.

Best known for their release 'Gone Too Long' on Cream Couture records in 2012, the track was soon picked up by Damian Lazarus, who has since signed the pair to Crosstown Rebels. An album is also planned later in the year, in the mean time their studio has been kept busy with releases for Eskimo, Love Matters, Runnin' Wild, Love Not Money and Circle Records - all achieving Beatport charting and peer respect from the likes of Pete Tong, Hot Since 82, Solomun, H.O.S.H, Lee Foss, Jamie Jones and Sandy Rivera.

          06. Tim Penner - Ride Til Dawn [Proton Music | PROTON0252]

Operating out of his Ontario home in Canada's 'Technology Triangle', Toronto resident, Tim Penner, has been a much-lauded name in the underground music scene's recent history. Returning to Proton Music once more, it is with great excitement that we announce the release of the genre-defying "The Tunnel" EP. With a maxim based upon the foundations of "creativity, originality and experimentation", Penner's belief is that "art can never be properly classified". His music, belying such simple tenets, has provided an ethos that has led his innovative work to forge alliances with some of the leading labels in a constantly evolving world.

A debut for the world-renowned Arnej Music, "Mitsuo" propelled Penner into the trance spotlight in the autumn of 2011 with his distinctive blend of rhythm and "layers of frequency that create the soundtrack to our lives". Since then, almost a half-century of credits have found their way onto such imprints as Replug, Stripped and Change Audio, supported by such luminaries as, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Guy J.

Furthermore, a clutch of production credits can be found upon the Konstrukt imprint, run alongside Brazilian supremo, DNYO. In tandem, the duo has formed a highly impressive roster and release schedule that has included Andre Sobota, David Granha and Sonic Union. Finding a second home on Proton Music, remixes of Nick Stoynoff and Apologist in the first half of 2013, were followed, in October, by the debut "Pyrogen" EP which once again tore apart musical convention with Penner's passion for audio manipulation and the harnessing of technology at his disposal.

A further remix of Lank at the end of the year, and of Dousk in early 2014, are now supplemented by another twin-track EP as Tim Penner's sophomore offering for Proton Music, "The Tunnel", now reclaims centre stage.

The title track itself is illustrative of Penner's frequency manipulation and abhorrence of mediocrity. Techno hi-hats tease playfully against a bass line that together create an airtight bond. Angular effects glitch and stutter their way across a rising groove before a multifaceted and thickly layered staccato sound, weaves a delightful pattern across the whole with redoubtable ease. Reminiscent of Kraftwerk in their heyday, a vibrant and dynamic sound provides no better tribute to Penner's craft.

Partner track, "Ride Til Dawn" takes up the underground mantle with dominant kick and superbly grooved bass line that carries itself naturally throughout. Warm pads wash over the rhythmic backdrop in coruscating waves as subtle melody pierces the soundscape with beauty and poise in emotive breakdown before joining forces with a vocal cut that revels in tape-delayed glory and rich harmonious synchronicity.

A bright, shining light at the end of "The Tunnel" has ensured Tim Penner's new EP is certain to breathe more life into an already notable production career.

          [Dance Rebels Review]

Lands EP is a creative new release from Italian duo Hunter/Game. Bordering on the darker side of Tech House, Hunter/Game uses a well crafted kick drum beneath spacey synths to add tension and catchy melody to their tracks. Bass lines swell up from underneath deep grooves, while light synths add airy melody to 'Antartide'. 'Canyons', with its long breaks have a plethora of different synth combinations creating a frenetic, yet vibrant groove. Finally, 'Black Hills' uses dissonance and light instrumentalist to create a trippy, yet unique sound to its great use of percussion. While this EP is a bit out there , for this that enjoy listening to new-age tech house that would bring a club down after the hour of midnight, check this EP out. It's fresh, its's unique, and it's creative.

          09. Lovejet - Babylon [Espai Music | EM025]

For our next release, Espai Music welcome Lovejet. Known for a diverse and eclectic discography through releases on the likes of F-Region Productions and Sonar Kollektiv, Lovejet adds a 'Babylon' to the list.

The original mix is a beautiful piece of deep, melodic techno - with strong hooks underpinning a subtle, evolving soundscape. Stepping up for remix duties are two established names in the tech-house and techno scene; Talul and Fabrice Lig.

Lig, whose back catalogue spans well over a decade having graced the likes of F Communications and R&S Records, kicks off his mix with a bed of techy rhythms and bass before the track takes a darker twist with some savage synth work, trippy keys and atmospherics.

Talul completes the set with a deeper, tech house workout. Full of haunting melodies and gorgeous chord progressions, the mix offers a great alternative for those looking for something for the after-hours dance-floors.
