      You're sensing they deserve more & they certainly do!

      The thing about large-med older dogs is that they don't "require" walks like when they're under 4 yrs old. They still love them though. When they're younger, they're impossible to live with without having exercise. As they age, it's sweet but also sad if taken advantage of, they live just to be near their masters.

      While it's not inhumane to keep them inside (because they're just lying around the house quite happily), it doesn't make it right either. She might not have a doggie door to let them out because they'd hop the fence or dig under it.

      Dogs are so unconditional, they'll let you get by with giving them minimal care/attention once they reach a certain age. That neighbor and I would not get along well.

      Seeing a large older dog romping around a field like a young puppy is the best. I'm one of those that believes dogs actually smile when they're happy though.
