    Interpol

i realize im a bit late on this one (well, for those who keep up with rock/whatever which i usually dont) :P

been listening to both their cds for the last 2 days, and they are right up my alley as far as non-electronic music is concerned, another one of these bands that sound like they could be from the late 70s, early 80s... but these guys sound (to me) a bit like joy division, one of my all time fave bands. does anyone have an opinion on this (or any other of these bands that sound like 70s/80s)

personally i think its much better than most of the shite that gets played on the radio.

    Re: Interpol

Evil track on Interpol's album is wicked.

Check out a band called The Bravery they ROCK and sound like they are from the 80's.

Threre is some good stuff at the moment in the inde/rock sence

Kaiser Chiefs are also very good, one of the best albums i've heard this year.

What the hell is going at MN. There are way to many none EDM threads here. I know music is music. But it seems like there are lot more people talking about bands instead of djs. Just an observation.

I totally agree with you, and that is one of the reason's why I like Interpol.

                Yes. Quite significant isn?t it?

Personally, I love music of all genres, so I enjoy threads like these. Although I agree that this IS an EDM board, so it?s not exactly the ideal place to talk about these bands, but honestly, few stuff in the EDM genre gets me excited right now, and maybe some other people feel the same around here, i think...

I'd write about DJ's if any of them were playing music I liked. I'm gutted at the moment, I happen not to like anything out there. The last track I loved was Luke Fair's "Bloc Rock" It all started last October at the Space Closing Party. Diggers came on and started playing this music I didn't like and couldn't relate to... It soundedn like BAD early 80's synth pop... this went on for 3 hours. Later that morning at about 1 John finally started playing dark filthy house. Little did I know that I would go on not to like his sets @ Bedrock, The Mayan, NYE, and finally at Monday Night Social. This year has sucked for me.

Yep, likewise. That track, JZ?s "Robophobia" and Pole Folder?s album were the last things that got me excited (even though Zero Gold isn?t strictly a "dance music" album).

Ok, so saying this about EDM in general is an exaggeration. Some techno and tech house sets I?ve heard, I liked a lot, but something like that Villalobos set (very good indeed) isn?t something that I can listen to as often as some prog house sets from before (like the LowEnd Specialists Kiss100 set from 2002, for example).

But maybe it?s my fault, and I?m the one who?s burnt out. My brother is a DJ and he was showing me his latest buys yesterday, and none of them got me very excited either (he plays straight house, with some progressive and tribal thrown in).

Edit : I forgot about that RPO Records set that?s being talked about in another thread. Awesome!

I think you must check his Black Session... that "specialist" song it's a biiig tune.

                            check out too:
                            The Rapture
                            Scissor Sisters
                            The Killers

                            cheers!
