Everything begins with chemistry, and the newly branded Chicago-based collective Electro Static Productions are out to turn dance floors into their laboratories. Having witnessed the undeniable coherent bond forged between DJ and clubber, creating spontaneous energy much like what is needed in order for a new star to form or a bolt of lightning to strike, they are currently seeking test subjects to prove the preceding observation. Launching on Thursday, May 8th, Electro Static Productions will be conducting weekly Case Studies to monitor the silently intense interaction that can occur when our test subjects are presented with a powerful variable in the form of sound, each different from the last, though similar in sonic capabilities.
British born/Canadian transplant Max Graham is not afraid of a little hard work. His career behind the decks started as a hip-hop/scratch DJ, but after getting his first taste of house in the mid-1990s, his focus shifted, but he brought his former skills with him, something that truly sets Max apart from the majority of the pack. The following six years saw Max helping to shape Canada’s electronic landscape by not only helping to opening Atomic in Ottawa, but manning the decks for six hour stints, honing his genre clashing abilities, propelling the club through twists and turns inside his relentless soundscapes. He began to produce in 2000 and instantly found his releases in the record bags of the world’s most influential DJs, most notably Paul Oakenfold. Based on those productions, he was cherry-picked to create the fourth installment of the world famous Tranceport series, a career move that would both launch him into the global arena, but pigeonholed into a genre that wasn’t where his heart was. After cracking into the DJ Mag Top 100 at a ground shaking 23, Max took a step back to reevaluate his stance inside dance music and it wasn’t long before he returned with a new production style and to his marathon mixing mentality. When Max arrives in your club, buckle up and throw your hands up because his style is full of twists and turns, not to mention his own reedits and bootleg remixes.
