Users are being told to avoid using Internet Explorer until Microsoft patches a serious security hole in it.

I figure anyone who is using I.E needs to be warned and probably shouldn't be using that anyways with all the problems these days with I.E. Plus anyone who is using I.E deserved to have these sorta problems.
Alright that was enuff I.E bashing for today!

It's not that IE has so many problems, it's the fact that 98% of the people in the world use IE so its exploits are searched for more rigorously. Netscape/etc have plenty of exploits too... it just that nobody cares enough to target 1% of the population when they can target 98% of it.
I guarantee that 9 out of 10 people in the world have never cruised over to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com to patch all the other *fixed* bugs in IE, so one more security flaw isn't a big deal. Most people out there probably have 40 critical security updates missing from IE alone. Whoever says not to use IE because of a bug is stupid... just don't browse for porn and illegal software and there wouldn't be a problem to begin with.

^^ Right. It took me some effort to move from IE to Opera. But once you start using it, you can't leave it. It has some great features than you can't find on other browsers (although Firefox has plugins that copy some of them), specially IE. The browsing tabs, opening pages in background (really handy when you weant to open lots of links from one page, you don't loose the focus on that one ie opening several topics of a forum), "paste and go" urls, mouse gestures, it keeps a list of every window that you closed on the session so you can go back to it anytime, when (if) it crashes or power goes down or you simply close the browser window while browsing you just open Opera again and there they are, the same sites you were checking before (that's something I hate about IE... crashing with 20 windows and losing all that information, url's...), zoom option to zoom in on images and web sites, built in transfer management with resume capability, pop-up blocking, google search bar on every window, mail manager and irc client... well I think I got a little bit too enthusiastic about it
