THE CRYSTAL METHOD (Ken Jordan & Scott Kirkland) mark the release of their new mix album COMMUNITY SERVICE II on April 5th on ULTRA Records/3 AM with a 36-city US tour and an exclusive NYC DJ set at SPIRIT (530 W 27th St) on Saturday, May 14th.
THE CRYSTAL METHOD?s 1997 debut, Vegas (Outpost Recordings, 1997), was the first electronic album to break into the American mainstream. Other releases from the pair include artist albums Tweekend (Interscope, 2001) and Legion Of Boom (V2 Records, 2004), as well as their first mix album Community Service (ULTRA Records, 2002). Collectively, they?ve sold over 1.5 million records and have become two of the most recognizable faces in American electronic dance music. The duo can now add the prestige of a debut GRAMMY nomination in the new category of Best Electronic/Dance Album for Legion of Boom ?as well as being the only American group included in this honor.
Community Service II - the second mix CD from THE CRYSTAL METHOD is part of a brand the duo have developed that?s dedicated to bringing fans the freshest and most exciting selections in break-beat music. In addition to the mix CDs and tours (the first Community Service DJ tour took place in 2002), they continue to host "Community Service," a weekly radio show dedicated to electronic music that airs every Friday night on Los Angeles? Indie 103.1 FM.
The album will feature exclusive remixes by THE CRYSTAL METHOD of songs by The Doors "Roadhouse Blues" and New Order "Bizarre Love Triangle" with some of their own original productions "Kalifornia" featuring Kevin Beber, "Starting Over" [Elite Force remix], "Bound Too Long" [Hyper remix] and tracks from the duo?s favorite break-beat producers UNKLE "Reign," Evil Nine "We Have the Energy" Uberzone "Octopus," and a new remix of the Smashing Pumpkins "1979" by New Originals.
