The therapy sessions on eccentricbeats this wednesday....

With Tone Depth and Dave Seaman

    on www.eccentricbeats.com at 3pm gmt (9am est)

Recorded Live at the Mayan in LA recently and it is superb

A specially made studio mix from one of our favourite producers in recent years under whichever guise you choose, this mix after the 5th listen still raises the hairs on the back of my neck

Tony Papadopoulos (aka Tone Depth) was born in Montreal Canada to a Greek mother and British\Cypriot father. At the age of 7 his family picked up and moved to the middle east to the island emirate of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf. From a young age Tony had a very eclectic taste in music from Jean Michelle Jarre to Jimi Hendrix. His interest in music got him to pick up guitar after a near death experience at the age of 11. At the age of 13 Tony went to a boarding school in Cyprus for a year and a half. In Cyprus, Tony spent a lot of time sneaking out of his dormitory on the weekends to frequent the clubs and was exposed for the first time to club music. After hearing tracks such as The Prodigy's "Charlie"and Lil Louis "French Kiss" Tony was hooked. For the next couple of years Tony spent many summers in England and The south of Europe where he quenched his thirst for House Music.

By the time he was 17 Tony was on his way back to Canada to go to Ryerson University in Toronto to study film. After a year of being disillusioned with the prospect of staying in University, Tony went out to western Canada to find a summer job and figure out what he wanted to do. After a while of contemplating he realised that the main thing he was interested in was to figure out how to use all the equipment in a studio to be able to make the music he had heard in his head since his first days listening to music. This prompted him to buy a synthesizer and spend all of his time learning how to master it. By the spring of 1996 Tony was ready to further his studies and move back to his native Montreal to attend the world renound sound design school Musitechnic, and to start building his own private studio. Within a year Tony was not only starting to make his own music but he was also making music for Canada's TV network YTV. His income from this helped to build his studio so he could further master his skills.

By the summer of 1999 Tony had sold his first track "Into Being"to Sporadic Groove Records in Boston.

After a chance meeting with Paul Oakenfold just before boarding his flight from the 2000 Miami Winter Music Conference, Tony ended up getting his 1st release licensed to Paul Oakenfolds compilation CD "Another World". This also led to another licensing from Paul of another one of Tonys tracks "Point 7" for Paul Oakenfolds "Travelling" CD later that year (Point 7 being one of 4 tracks on an EP Tony later released on Sporadic Groove).

After a short while things began to pick up for Tony. By 2001 Tonys material had found its way into the hands of many of the worlds top DJ's including Chris Fortier, Nick Warren, Deep Dish, and many others. One DJ in particular "John Digweed" picked up Tonys track "Rumblefish" for his infamous Bedrock label, and was caned by many DJs all over the world (it was unleashed by Digweed for the 1st time at the Newcastle Love Parade in the summer of 2001 to great acclaim).

In the winter of last year Tony teamed up with DJ Sultan (Sultan is also originally a guitarist and holds a DJ residency at Club Living in Montreal playing with some of the worlds top DJ talent). The partnership helped them to develop a unique sound and the vibe they created together in the studio garnered very prolific output. Their 1st track together "Sagres" was picked up by 16B for his label Alola records, and two others have been picked up by Deep Dishs label Yoshitoshi. Tony presently also holds residencies at Montreals Club Living and Club Stereo. This provides him with a place to break new tracks on the dancefloor and to enjoy Djing. Tony is also still producing tracks on his own as well as with his partner Sultan, handling all of the duties of production from programming to engineering. At the present Tony is looking forward to continuing to express himself through music and to establish himself as a world renound Producer/DJ. His continued dedication to his music and passion for his work is sure to bring us plenty of music for the future. Keep your eyes open.
