Who says vinyl is old school??? It just needed an infusion of life from the digital age.

    Interesting.

If mass production can bring the cost down to a resonable cost it then it would be a winner

that is sweet. nothing i hate more than hearing the needle skate all over the record. looks like that would disappear with this laser technology. i wonder when techniques will impliment this... :P

read about this years ago...cmon guys, just let the vinyl go. If you're into sound quality, don't worry. It'll only be a few years until hard drives are cheap and massive enough to support entire music collections of high-res digital audio tracks. For a price, you can do it now.

This laser turntable is like a giant CD player; you have to put the record into the machine; it's not like you would be able to start/stop, cue, scratch, or do anything like what makes vinyl worthwhile. The only thing I can imagine one wanting one for is audiophile listening or for Djs taking their records and sampling them to data.

i think ... when you do finalize ... you can at least play it back to make sure you have a solid track path and etc. it is not a press, more like an etch.

You may want to consider that most if not virtually all of the tracks we play on vinyl are produced on computers, so any gripes about analog being better can be dismissed. Sure, vinyl is easier to throw around, but it's still just a means to an end?good sound. 44.1K might be noticably more "harsh", but >48 >24 bit audio doesn't have that problem.

Yep...it's a natural evolution. Why should something created from a digital source be played on an analog device?? 24-bit sounds better than a needle anyday.
