To your corners, boys...this topic calls for a DANCEOFF!!
Danceoff? no problem, I got this one in the bag. And I never have the desire to post or read anything when I'm not stoned, being asleep and all... you know how hard that is.
... not having enough time to read the whole 7 pages of the topic i just wanted to agree that Diggers is not anymore what he used to be, and i mean not that darky!
... imo one of the dinosaurs left, almost as dark as he is (when the devil gets inside him) is Nick Warren. He has this mysterious smile and he knows that the tune he has in mind and follows is going to blow your head!
Hernan Cattaneo might be the future, or sometimes i think Satoshi is also good at darker tune selection, but none of them is like old good times of Digger! He was the pioneer
I?d like to add that the latest Chris Fortier mix on Kiss100 is very dark and twisted. Well, at least it?s my kind of dark and twisted...
Like, the pussy kind of dark and twisted? LOL, sorry, that was totally just to say and not at all about you personally, It just popped into my head, and I had to type it.... i agree, the end is trippy odd... :0

Be well
Hey, don?t be sorry, man, I crack up reading your posts most of the time (those long ones sometimes need too much concentration from me, though, you sound like someone who?s taken way too many drugs in your life ).
I understand it?s not the "hard & dark" type, but sometimes I like darkness that creeps up on you, not bludgeons you in the head.
And yeah, that penultimate track is sick, in the psychotic sense of the word...that muffled moan...it?s like she?s being fucked with a knife while smothered with a pillow

a little dark there... nice interpretation.... actually, drugs aside, I've been a very good rambler all my life, much to my mother's delight and dismay I was speaking full (run-on) sentances at age 18 months apparently. In High School I was nicknamed Randy for being random (pulling topics out of "nowhere") but all that aside, toasted or not, if I hold it back it's not pretty....
and believe it or not, letting it all out has actually been MUCHO beneficial.... job/creative speaking... when you say the shit nobody else will (or would?) you at least get noticed... and as this is New York, land of the open mind (USA style), the open minded and warped alike tend to understand eachother very well...
and when I edit my rants (not out, just into separate digressions), use a word processor, and a wicked font of my liking, my writing isn't oh - so - Unibomber...
The reason all of you are having such a hard time thinking of DJs playing the "dark" tracks these days is because....NO ONE IS!!!!
So not true. It has just taken pn a different form. It has taken on more of a techy, tribal or electro feel as opposed to the old dark organic sound.

Dave Seaman (floored me when I same him last month in Toronto with his monstrous track selection) hard and dark and dirty oh my.
Chris Micali
are all producing and/or playing dark and dirty twisted prog. Sure they mix it up with other sounds but the dark beats will always be there to find. Then there are the enormous amount of new comers in production who are giving prog new life with the electro sound. If you are looking for twisted, dirty, dark and grinding beats that is where you are going to find them. With all the great new talent out there it still surprises me that we still continue to focus so much attention on the same few DJs. With all the sub genres out there you can find whatever it is you are looking for ..you just gotta source it out.
I too heart Hernan
Doesn't mean I am weird and it doesn't mean I need to be in therapy. www.aaronmossey.com
I've not seen in this thread such great Dj and producer as Gab Olivier. His sets in Sunny Club (Melburn) are the most dark catchy and atmospheric sets I've ever heard. Gab Olvier & Digby - Human EP is one of my favs. He set up his own label Zero Tolerance that specialized on dark stuff only and no longer exist. He's opened such names as Jono Fernandez and Luke Chable.
I do come over dark stuff rarely. I advise ypu to check out Nick Proteus and his project Degrees of Freedom, Smight, Habersham, Naveen G, Nikola Gala (Everything is you EP), Precision project, Kaybee, Sharon and Robertson, Brahma etc. and such labels: Cold Taps, Toes in Sand, Zero Tolerance.
Find Gab Olivier's set and enjoy this trip into the darkness.

I know what you mean, but I'm talking Digweed - Hong Kong dark...Deep Dish - Renaissance Ibiza dark. DARK dark!!!!! You know??

??????? Hong Kong is dirty, but I'd go for "not happy" as opposed to dark.... (on the darker side, but not "DARK dark!!!".... Hot and Great yes (van m / leeds MORE gets me GOOD) ..... and Deep Dish ibiza disc 2, while great, negates any amount of darkness with "the fyling song" "Gabriella - Rise" and whatever the first track was called, "pink Ciggarettes" or something close to that....
I am confused now... is it this specific sound you are missing these days, or something like Nothern exposure South and Westcoast.... for a good 30 minutes or so at least in the middle of each? Wavespeech... etc?
