Make a track with Dj Sasha

BPM Magazine, M-Audio, Global Underground and Sasha invite you to "get involved" and collaborate on a brand new song with Sasha.
It's simple?using parts that Sasha has written specifically for this
contest, create an original piece of music that is as much a product
of your creativity as it is Sasha's.

The winner will receive an array of M-Audio gear and software, music
from Global Underground, recognition in BPM and a framed U.S.
copyright certificate showing co-ownership of the track. Best of
all, the finished song will receive a full commercial release and
the Grand Prize winner will be a royalty-earning participant!

    >>>> Rules

To enter the contest, compose a song in Ableton Live using the
original elements that Sasha has provided, then burn a CD
(containing both a self-contained Ableton Live file and the folder
that contains the samples), clearly label it with your name and
contact information, and make sure that it reaches BPM (address
below) by November 1, 2004. BPM will accept only one submission per
person, and will judge your production on its overall structure and
creativity. Sasha will personally judge the final round of entries
and determine the Grand Prize Winner and the three Runners-Up.

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.

Have you peeps actyally gone to the site? They let you download the XS version of Ableton Live (an older, slimmed down version).

I?m on it already...been a very happy live user for the past 6 months.

exactly! there is no way to grab a wav file from the XS version. it's stoooopid. AND you only are allowed 6 tracks. you have to have the full version unless you hook up cool edit or soundforge to record your work live.

                          Is that true? Weird...

I mean, the lack of render function is not that much of a problem anyway, they want you to send the Ableton Live self-contained file (*.als), not a *.wav file.

But the lack of arrange-view is very wierd, let me check out the forum at ableton...

Ok, here?s the specs for Live Delta (equal to XS) :

                          Live Delta limitations:
                          -------------------------
                          - No ReWire master
                          - No ReWire slave
                          - Maximal 10 play tracks
                          - Maximal 2 send track
                          - Maximal 5 scenes
                          - No session view recording
                          - Only stereo in and out
                          - No MIDI sync
                          - No MIDI remote
                          - No tap tempo
                          - No tempo automation
                          - Only Chorus, Compressor, Eq4 , Gate and Ping Pong Delay
                          - Only one VST at the same time can be used
                          - No crossfader

So, I guess you don?t have Session View RECORDING, but it says nothing about the arrangement-view.
