      Release Notes:

      01. Vondelpark - California Analog Dream (Robag's Moppa Habax Nb) [Pampa Records | PAMPA0015]

London trio Vondelpark have received quite some notable accolades for their debut full-length album Seabed, released earlier this year on R&S Records. The BBC compared their dreamy sound to The xx, describing the song “California Analog Dream” as “exemplary electronic pop, tracing dance and RnB patterns but rarely running over them in anything permanent.” Now DJ Koze and the whole Pampa Records crew is delighted by Robag Wruhme's magic touch to bring the band's hushed tones out of the bedroom and onto the dancefloor for this new Pampa Records 12”.

With “Moppa Habax NB”, our beloved Robag takes certain elements of the original—most notably the bittersweet vocals and gentle guitar strumming—and weaves them around a functional house stomp. The dusky feeling is still there, but with an ultraviolet sheen and those quirky flourishes that have become trademarks of both Mr. Wruhme and the Pampa label.

Flipping the record over, we hear Robag shift Vondelpark's pop tune further into dubbed-out DJ tool territory with “Habay Latoff NB”, placing it atop a hand-cranked mechanical pulse that's more tech than house. The vocals are reduced to a mere atmospheric aspect, letting Robag's buzzing and clattering do the talking, as the underlying drawn-out melodic phrases breeze past, with plenty of auditory curveballs to make your ears smile.

Grab the vinyl version now - R&S won't be offering these remixes digitally until later in the year.

      Released by: Pampa Records
      Release/catalogue number: PAMPA0015
      Release date: 27 May 2013

      [RA Review]

Vondelpark's plaintive indie-electro proves to be fertile ground for the subtle remixing skills of Robag Wruhme. Having been handed the task by DJ Koze of sending the acoustic two-step of "California Analog Dream" towards the dance floor, Wruhme attacks it from two angles. The "Moppa Habaz" remix is campfire house. Wruhme keeps the stoned guitar phrasing of the original but augments it with lazy handclaps, blasts of harmonica, glockenspiel and treacly bass. It's a relaxed, mid-afternoon at a festival kind of tune. The "Habay Latoff" remix (available only on vinyl until later in the year) strips everything back, hacking even further into the original and discarding the excess. Subtle dabs of vocal are stretched to breaking point on a chugging dub backing punctuated by idiosyncratic squeaks, fizzes, wooshes and yelps.

      02. D.X. Xavier - Dreamcatcher [Music To Please Friends | MTPF008]

Spain’s D.X. Xavier joins MTPF for his debut release with a stunning, deep progressive double header. “Totem” is the moodier of the two tracks, dark and full of atmosphere with a long, drawn out break. “Dreamcatcher” is still on the deep side but the darkness is replaced by warm pads and light, subtle melodies. A nice, balanced alternative to “Totem”.

Support from Hernan Cattaeno, Macelo Paladini, Alberto Blanco, Matias Vila, Madloch, East Cafe, Dale Middleton, Armin Van Buuren, D-Phrag, Andrew Best, David Podhel, East Cafe, Dimitry Molosh, Tim Benjamin, Oscar Vasquez, Patrize, Fernando Ferreya, Jose Tabarez & more...

      04. Mario M - Break The Walls [Proton Music | Promo]

      08. Kaito - Behind My Life (Michael Mayer Mix) [Kompakt | FM X / Kompakt 1]

In what one could probably call "the lost remixes", we unearthed two unpublished cuts which fell to the roadside for any number of inane reasons that we have forgotten since. What we didn't forget, however, is how damn fine these reworks are.

Take for example MICHAEL MAYER's take on KAITO's "Behind My Life", an obvious highlight on both Kaito's EP and full-length offerings last year, but as the rest of his work not really lending itself to radical remix treatments - the typical ambience of a Kaito track is too delicate, it seems, for the good ole "let's stick a fatter bass drum underneath it and be gone" routine. That's when you realise how masterful a remixer Michael Mayer actually is, turning the epic soundscapes of the original inside out and into a relentlessly grooving house stomper. The melodic break is where it's at on this one, giving them punters ample space to get truly lost in sound.

The flip-side holds its own set of surprises with SASCHIENNE's ingenious boogie reboot of MOHN's "Saturn" off their 2012 debut album. Originally a kind of kraut-infused synth jam with all the time in the world for the contemplation of infinite truths and the possibility of space travel, it has now become a tightly knit space cowboy opera full of special effects and exciting laser shootouts. Because you know what they say: a vocoder a day keeps the doctor away.

      10. London Grammar - Interlude (Antrim Unofficial Remix) [Because ‎| unreleased]

Played by Hernan Cattaneo b2b Nick Warren @ La Terraza (Barcelona).

Taken from London Grammar's album 'If You Wait' [Because ‎| BEC5161469]. London Grammar is a British trip-hop trio formed by Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman and Dominic 'Dot' Major.

After first meeting at university in Nottingham the band fully formed and has been in the studio writing and recording their debut album. The first introduction to London Grammar came in late 2012 in the form of 'Hey Now' from the their debut EP 'Metal and Dust' drawing comparisons to the likes of The XX, Portishead and Radiohead with the vocal like Lana Del Rey and Adele. Now comes the debut album which is full of space, restraint, earworm hooks and yearning vocals.

Their debut album, If You Wait, was released on 9 September 2013 and set platinum certification by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) association.

Recently they have been remixed by the likes of Sasha, Bonobo and Dennis Ferrer.

You need to download these on a regular basis , he has just been mind blowing. !!

With all the new soundcloud things happening we are getting less and less quality downloads. Podcasts like this from the artists will probably be the only way to get them in the future. Hernan was way ahead of us. And he still seems to be the only one doing it the way he does and WEEKLY. The quality is always stunning.!!

Actually what happened to me yesterday is the way sharing music should work. Listened to 165 I was totally destroyed by Frangellico - Floating so went looking for it and found this FRISKY | Dreamers - June 2014 - Fernando Ferreyra Which is a brilliant set. I follow both Frangellico and Ferreyra on Soundcloud , but obviously not close enough. Will definitely be looking more and might just subscribe to Frisky to get good quality downloads. Win win everywhere.
