    Release Notes:

    01. Michel De Hey & Rauwkost - Julienzzz (Ramon Tapia Remix) [Bedrock Records | Beddigi50]

"First we did a different start for this, I brought in some samples and the track had more of a tribal feel to it. But after a few plays I felt it was not there yet, so we played around a bit and being influenced by rave throughout my career, I wanted to do something with a rave bass coming out of nowhere. It fitted the track like a glove and from my first test with an audience I knew it was something special and the amount of track IDs I had on this one made me feel sure, we had a winner!

I have met John on many occasions in the past and I knew he was playing a lot of my productions. With this one, I felt straight away he could play this, but to my surprise a day after sending it they wanted it for a release. I always wanted to do something for Bedrock, so no complaints." [Michel De Hey]

This collaboration between one of Hollands most influential techno DJ/producers - Michel de Hey - and Amsterdams highly original Rauwkost, is an incredibly exciting meeting of creative minds. The end results - Julienzzz flying high on a deep throbbing techno backbone overlaid with hypnotic melody flourishes, and the counterbalancing Gibsome taking on a more laidback, deeply groovy warmness and heartfelt, soulful, spiritual vibe - are nothing short of extraordinarily superb.

The creator of some of the freshest sounds in techno music in recent years, fellow Dutchman, Ramon Tapia, is also on fire here. For his remix of Julienzzz, a teasing percussive intro leads into a monstrous, infectious, booming groove that is sure to cause chaos all summer long. Italy is also strongly represented here by the super-hot production duo - Paolo Martini & Paul C, who never fail to impress. Their catchy and bouncy techno remix style rides high on a rhythm that has the groove and swing factor turned up to the max.

If you like what you hear here, then dont miss Ramon Tapias next monster release, also coming on Bedrock on June 23rd, in the form of a collaborative project with Stavroz, called Havana.

    Release date: 9 June 2014

    02. Ramon Tapia & Stavroz - Havana [Bedrock Records | Beddigi151]

Ramon Tapia & Stavroz collaborate to bring us their new single 'Havana' - a delectable deep and organic house track that harnesses shakers, maracas, elegant trumpets and deft, gentle guitars; plus a warm and subtle synth that murmurs pleasingly in the background. Both a beautifully crafted piece of music and devastatingly effective club record.

    Released by: Bedrock
    Release/catalogue number: BEDDIGI51
    Release date: 23 June 2014

    [DMC World Review]

Shimmy shimmy shake to this. Ramon Tapia and Stavros ( the latter is nothing to do with Kojak, greek politics or Britain’s Got Talent) deliver a sexy, percussive tech house roller that is lifted by a trumpet hook so deadly you’d be mad not to play it wherever and whenever you get the oppportunity. Play it as loud as you can – it sounds amazing when the windows are open and you can hear it in the street. Your neighbours will love and hate you for it. One for the ‘End of Summer 2014’ charts make no mistake.

    03. H.O.S.H. & Andhim - Captain (H.O.S.H. Presents Forever Young 4 EP) [Diynamic Music | DIYC066D 10"]

The long awaited collaboration of H.O.S.H. & andhim - grand finale of H.O.S.H.'s 'Forever Young' series. Look who's back, back again... It's one of the main men at Diynamic, the one and only Mr. H.O.S.H! The dude is a key member of the Diynamic family, has been for years and always comes up with the floor filling goods. Now he brings his extra special 'Forever Young' project to a close with another fantastic EP featuring two more very special house tracks. The well received project has seen the artist release four limited edition EPs on 10 vinyl with each track representing a character from a childhood dream, and one of these cuts was made in collaboration with German Get Physical duo anthem.

Up first is the mighty 'Captain' - a suitable title considering H.O.S.H.'s DJ adventures on the high seas in Ibiza. It's a deep track driven along by rich drums and warm bass notes as rough metal percussion lashes about in the foreground a little bit like a stormy sea breeze.

On the flip, the brilliant 'Writer' is another lush bit of artistic and musical house music with woody percussive sounds, sombre downbeat chords and more ethereal pads. As well as playing at the Diynamic Outdoor events in Ibiza and continuing his BackToBack European tour with boss man Solomun, you can also catch H.O.S.H. at Sonar, Sunrise festival, Solomun +1 at Pacha Ibiza, Fusion Festival in Germany, Toika in Toronto, Verboten in NYC, 10 Days Off in Ghent and all around Europe in June, July and August.

    Release Date: 22.07.2014

    [Data Transmission Review]

Holger Behn AKA H.O.S.H., has long been considered one of Diynamic’s most potent party-starters, a fact that’s long since been emphasized the success of his Forever Young series. Now, that series comes to a head in typically assured fashion, as the German house maestro steers the ship as only he knows how alongside our favourite upstarts, Andhim.

If you didn’t catch the nautical hint in that last senstence, then the title of the EP, Captain, ought to do the trip. Named after the producer’s many adventures on the high seas of Ibiza (where he DJs under the Diynamic banner), the action kicks off with ‘Captain’. Initially a low-slung, pitched back (and relatively chilled effort), we’re soon brought to murkier waters thanks to a groaning synth-line and a melding of icy perc. The bulbous and colourful melodies help to bring a touch of class and emotion to the table, and all things considered, they’re the sort of sounds you’ll definitely appreciate when the sun is setting over the sea especially. Really gorgeous stuff, it bags more than enough punch to become an Ibiza anthem this summer.

On the flip side, ‘Writer’ is no less sumptuous, although it’s not quite as heartfelt as its predecessor. That said, it does tug at the heartstrings, most notably through its hallowed drums and it’s a wafting, cosmic groove. Engaging and wrapped in a real summer gaze, this is one EP fans of the deeper stuff won’t want to go without.

    04. Alex Niggemann - Materium [Poker Flat Recordings | PFR149]

Out today is Alex Niggemann's new and long anticipated double-A-side single "Materium / Primary" which contains one of the biggest and most hammered tunes of the moment as the title track "Materium" that already has caused serious dance-floor mayhem over the past weeks. "Primary" has already been premiered as exclusive pre-stream via Thump's US division over the weekend whilst Mr. Niggemann has been touring the states for the second half of his recent US-tour. Big up.

Poker Flat Recordings welcomes back the ever-prolific Alex Niggemann for another speaker-troubling dispatch. This time the Aeon and Soulfooled boss drops a heavy-duty release that more than lives up to his usual high standards.

'Materium' is epic in every sense of the word - a sprawling, tough journey into analogue techno with a dash of house thrown in. It rips through the speakers - the crisp and aggressive production provides the space for growling synths and atmospheric, tense pads. What’s more, the whole track audaciously dissolves into silence mid way through - before exploding back into life via a descending analog synth line.

'Primary' is no less dramatic but opts for a dubbier vibe as it builds and releases the ever-present tension. It’s hard, moody, electronic funk for after-hours, basements and warehouses.

    [Data Transmission]

2013 has already seen some stellar collaborations. From high profile team ups between Nile Rodgers and a host of stars, most notably Daft Punk to more underground projects like techno originator Juan Atkins hooking up with Basic Channel’s Moritz Von Oswald to form Borderland or Regis departing from Sandwell District to form Jealous God and Concrete Fence, it certainly has been a year where teamwork has been the name of the game.

The latest artists to share a new joint project are John Digweed and Nick Muir with the Bedrock boss revealing the pairing have collaborated on a three disc album set entitled Versus and that it will be seeing release via his imprint this October. The project sprung from humble beginnings with the duo initially planning a “remix swap” before an “extended EP” was written and “then out of nowhere... an album with many twists and turns.”

As a project it has seen Digweed and Muir edit twelve of their current favorites with efforts from Jozif, Psycatron, Guy J and Pig & Dan all featuring on the first CD before being mixed together by Digweed before the second reveals ten of them unmixed. The third disc however is the one likely to generate excitement as it boasts eight original cuts from Digweed and Muir and will showcase their time in the studio together. . In addition to the limited-edition CD release, which also features a 20-page booklet, Bedrock will release a triple-vinyl edition with 11 of the Versus tracks.

Having hand selected 12 of their favorite producers, who have really caught their attention, John Digweed and Nick Muir have challenged these respected artists to showcase their skills. Featuring talents like The Japanese Popstars, MArco Bailey, Jamie Stevens, Guy J, Pig&Dan, and more, John Digweed and Nick Muir have combined with each of these artists to create a special “versus” track.

The first CD contains all these tracks seamlessly mixed together by John Digweed, while the second CD features all these tracks spotlighted on their own. The third CD is set to showcase the incredible production skill of John Digweed and Nick Muir. With just a handful of tracks completed, John Digweed and Nick Muir linked together to give the public 8 new and unreleased tracks featuring the Digweed/Muir name with it all mixed together by Nick Muir.

"What started out as a remix swap then an extended EP then out of nowhere after 12 months an album and with many twists and turns, Versus is finally here featuring a set of amazing collaborations and remixes with some of our favourite producers from around the world. We’d like to say a huge thank you to these brilliant artists for making this project happen" [John Digweed]

    Release Date: 16 June 2014

    09. Joeski - All By Myself (Joeski 2014 Mix) [Suara | SUARA129]

This EP breathes the fresh and groovy air of the electronic music. Do you love to dance like there is no tomorrow? This is your EP!

    Release Date: 21 April 2014

    10. Terranova - Tourette (Headache EP) [Kompakt | KOM 296]

TERRANOVA returns to the fore with the HEADACHE EP, another impressive assortment of floor-ready house weaponry - after the sublime sophistication of the PAINKILLER EP (KOMPAKT 262) and its accompanying remixes (FM X/PAIN 001), the new material shoves the pendulum back into more rugged club territory, showcasing the sort of sonic urgency and rawness the legendary project has become known for in the first place.

As missing links between the dystopian pop of TERRANOVA's turn-of-the-century work and the slick kinetic drama of their current incarnation on Kompakt, the three cuts of the HEADACHE EP congenially continue the multi-layered, nifty thrust of 2012's house nouveau epic HOTEL AMOUR (KOMPAKT 248 CD 95), but also manage to evoke the wonderstruck immediacy of an act burning through its first speakers. This becomes particularly manifest with the deployment of CATH COFFEY as vocalist for title track HEADACHE (also a primer for TERRANOVA's upcoming full-length). A member of iconic British rap outfit Stereo MCs in the early 90s and collaborator of Tricky, the singer was featured on TERRANOVA's initial outings and is a well-established presence in their early work. On the new 12", she reintroduces her unique brand of battle-hardened, deadpan soulfulness to the searing funk of the reinvigorated project.

HEADACHE, a cover of a song from Birmingham's iconic and controversial postpunk outfit The Au Pairs, as well as its instrumental sequel HEADLOCK are both fuelled by the propulsive beats and upscale hooks we've grown to expect from TERRANOVA, but there seems to be something else at work, too - a somewhat darker undercurrent that may or may not be part of the actual arrangement. In any case, this adds much-needed depth to today's dance floors, providing them with a riveting soundtrack for the most intense of prime times. There's no need for EP closer TOURETTE to hide behind its compatriots, either: it's a full-blown thrill ride in its own right, brimming with jittery sampling, arresting percussion and some pretty rad bassline abrasiveness thrown in for good measure. A well-placed shot at the dancer's solar plexus, this wraps up the HEADACHE EP nicely, giving players and punters another perfectly valid reason for post-apocalyptic celebration.

    Release Date // March 31, 2014 (physical & digital)
    Format // 12"
    Catalog Nr // Kompakt 296
