        01. Nicorus - Wie die Welt einmal davon kam (Groj Remix) (Rave On Tape EP) [Keller | KLR 10]

Keller is an independent label for electronic music, based in berlin. Breaking down the barriers between melodic techno and deep house, our releases explore the unknown territories of sound.

After one year in clubs, abandoned buildings, dark basements and many joyful open airs, we released our first compilation, containing tracks of the main members of Keller: Beatmoertelz, Agja, Jozak Sander and Cinthie. The first three founded the label in spring 2012, but we operate much longer.

Keller is an underground party community around our hometown berlin, always searching for different and special locations. We have our own headquarter, production studios and club in Berlin-Neukölln.

The French producer "Nicorus" has conjured up with "RAVE ON TAPE" a wonderful technoid, apocalyptic EP that brings equal to 4 remixes with it. Firstly "Rave on Tape", the Dutch producer duo "Mononoid" who publish since 2011 on the label "Traum Schallplatten" and the boys of "Suicide Club" from Toulouse. On the other hand, "How the world once it came," by none other than "AGJA", 2012 his first release celebrated on the basement label and the French "Groj" which starts on "Proton Music", "witch hazel" and also to ""published dream.

        Release Date: July 6, 2014

        02. Radiohead - Videotape (Christian Cabrera Re-edit) [XL Recordings | unreleased]

"Videotape is my favourite track from the record. I wanted to put it first, but somebody pointed out it if we did that people would turn the record straight off. [laughs] I like it because it very much happened despite me. And the others took reigns on it. Turned it to the stripped down thing. Personally speaking, I think this is the best thing we ever created, cause it has this inexpressible substance thing going on, behind what’s the specifics of the song. So I’m really really proud of that." [Thom Yorke]

Videotape is taken from 'In Rainbows' is the seventh studio album by the English alternative rock band Radiohead, and was recorded at producer Nigel Godrich's Hospital Studios in Covent Garden. The album was self-released on 10 October 2007 as a download via a pay-what-you-want model, followed by a standard CD release in most countries in the last week of 2007. Radiohead worked on In Rainbows for more than two years, beginning in early 2005.

Yorke described the process of composing "Videotape" as "absolute agony", stating that the song "went through every possible parameter". One day, Yorke left the studio, returning to find that Godrich and Jonny Greenwood had stripped the song down to the version found on the album, a minimal piano ballad.

Here there is an unofficial remix by Christian Cabrera of Buenos Aires.

        03. Julio Largente - Haiku [MNL | MNL041]

Manual Music was established by Dutch DJ/producer Paul Hazendonk, initially as a sub label of the infamous Basic Beat record company and record store, just after the summer of 2005. In 2009, Paul Hazendonk left the Basic Beat company and adopted the Manual brand name for his own company, simply calling it Manual Music.

The Manual Music company currently houses three record labels: Manual Music, it’s sub label MNL, and it’s sister label Cinematique. Nowadays Manual Music is a company taking care of management, publishing, digital distribution and of course releasing music on it’s labels which offer a wide range of genres within the electronic music scene, from electro-pop and indie electronica until straight forward dance-floor techno.

Nearly one year after his release on Cinematique, Julio Largente returns to the Manual family with a brand new release. This time he drops his new single 'Haiku' on our MNL label and his friend Dartek tags along on remix duties.

'Haiku' is a mysterious, deep and haunting song build around a cleverly constructed and driving arpeggiator. Where Julio keep things in the deep, fellow Buenos Aires resident Dartek adds a dose of funk to his rework, using the elements of the original to maximum effect. What's your pick?

        04. Omar El Gamal - Kanaka (East Cafe Remix) [Particles | PSI1425]
        05. Omar El Gamal - Kanaka (Simos Tagias Remix) [Particles | PSI1425]

Beginning the year in suitably impressive style, Omar El Gamal's "But Her Bubble" EP showcased the native Egyptian's unique talents through a trio of tracks that blended soft lilting melodies with twisted, textured layers. With a catalogue of original material under his belt, Omar now returns to Particles once more, courtesy of a bevy of remixes from some of the underground music industry's finest exponents.

Joost van der Vleuten's Namatjira pseudonym has been a source of rare success for the Dutchman. 2010's "Late at Night" release marked a watershed moment. Subsequent work has found its way onto such industry tastemakers as Lowbit and Spring Tube, while a relationship with Particles has seen appearances on seasonal compilation series coupled with full-blown releases including remixes from Blend and Andrew McDonnell. Returning to Particles after a remix of Andrew Benson in 2013, the Namatjira remix of "Fusion" is an elegantly reworked piece full of the melodic sensibilities of the original, coupled with a wondrously deep bass and subtle percussive groove.

Gabor Kaszas' East Cafe production sound has been responsible for defining the modern progressive breaks era. A regular contributor to the Retroid run Morphosis imprint since 2007's debut, the East Cafe sound has found its way to Mistique, Stellar Fountain and Dopamine. Moving into the progressive house sound, Gabor's work has been celebrated by Hernan Cattaneo, Embliss and Matt Darey on a regular basis. Turning his attentions towards a reworking of Omar El Gamal's "Kanaka", the East Cafe remix is full of the trademark features that have made Gabor so successful. A deep emotive bass line fills the lower end and reverb-soaked arpeggios and twinkling keys combine effortlessly with rich pads and shuffling percussion to create a magical work.

Simos Tagias burst onto the underground scene in late 2012 after critical acclaim of his "Voices" EP for Lynx Records. Since then, the Greek producer has not looked back with further work for Stellar Fountain, Silk Angel and Electronic Tree supplemented by both original and remix material for Particles. A further remix of "Kanaka" sees shuffling hi-hats provide a rhythmic backbone atop a deep kick drum while a rippling arpeggio and carefully placed plucks combine to provide an effortless groove. Teasing out melodic themes from Gamal's original, Tagias has provided a classy rework.

Final contributor, Micah Lukasewich, needs little introduction. A stalwart of the underground scene for a decade, Micah's meticulous work has found success with Global Underground and Chris Fortier's Fade Records. A return to the scene after a recent hiatus, a new album for the Nexus Soundcscapes imprint has already found favour with Hernan Cattaneo. A Proton Radio show and label under the Ruhnsong banner have been further sources of success while earlier work for Particles is now followed by a typically gifted remix of "Kanaka". Chock full of intricately programmed beats and soft bass line, elements from Omar El Gamal's original are resonant alongside a raft of new production material as Micah's "Green Ghost of Fuji Forest" remix evolves to produce a stunning complex groove that rises and falls with consummate ease.

A quartet of new remixes has shown that Omar El Gamal's bubble is far from bursting. Directed by Jay Epoch AandR by Marina Gerardi Mastered by Namatjira, East Cafe, Cid Inc.

        07. Mitaric - By Your Side (We Are The Future Compilation Winter 2013) [3rd Avenue | 3AV004LP]

Dominique's Heyninck's 3rd Avenue imprint has delivered some of this years strongest progressive house releases. If you look back over the labels discography for 2013 it's littered with great, well thought out releases. Progress Inn's 'Currents' EP was a real standout and many pure progressive house fans cite Blusoul's 'Omega' as one of their favourite releases of the year. One of the highlight's of 3rd Avenue's release schedule are the quarterly 'We Are The Future' compilations that Dominique so tirelessly puts together. They are always a great showcase of electronic music talent and generally offer a broad range of sounds which make for a great listen start to finish. This week sees the Winter Edition of 'We Are The Future' getting it's release and it looks like another fabulous selection. Featured on the project are: Kaan Koray, GabiM, David Salazar, Mitaric, Sound Travell3r, Kaban & Phase Modulation, Julian Rodriguez, Sebastian Schetter, German Angeleri and Jose Tabarez.

Like all compilation's there always seems to be a few tracks that you really latch on to and for me that's certainly the case here. Great work has been turned in by all involved but when i first listened to the collection i found myself consistently going back and checking out the productions from Mitaric, Julian Rodriguez and Jose Tabarez.

Most progressive house producers nowadays are generally European so it's always cool to see one from the USA. Mitaric hails from sunny Florida and this is his first appearance on 3rd Avenue. His newest studio creation is entitled 'By Your Side' and it looks to be his strongest work to date. The deep, hypnotic groove is quite contemporary and the wobbly bass stabs carve out a very nice foundation. The rhythmic elements go through a series of slow rolling modulation which just plays to the hypnotic nature of the track. As the composition builds though there is some real melodic beauty which comes to the forefront. Gorgeous keys cascade through the framework along with goose bump inducing pads which phase in and out of the mix perfectly. It's a delicate beauty that's full of wonderful texture and emotion and it's certainly one of the standout tracks here. Sublime work from Mitaric.

Julian Rodriguez has been a long time fixture of the progressive house underground and this year his contributions to the scene have been huge. Julian's Massive Harmony imprint is giving old school fans something to rejoice about and the Argentine's productions have been better than ever this year. Julian's inclusion here is entitled 'The Eternal Sigh of Sibyl' and it goes down as one of his most well constructed tracks to date. The drum elements are big and bold which really enhance the nice groove Julian creates early on. Trippy vocal trails, long dynamic sweeps and twinkly melodies soon enter the mix and take things to a much more sonically satisfying level. The main break is full of big, widescreen atmosphere which really engulfs the entire drop. The tension and anticipation are quite exhilarating and once the gyrating rhythms return it's a huge moment in the record which sets up a monstrous sounding second half which is full of amazing atmosphere. Great stuff from Julian.

Closing the collection out is Jose Tabarez who has been one of the more under rated producers in recent years. His productions always have great atmosphere and character about them, it's clear that's he's not a producer just churning out as many tracks as possible but rather one that focuses on the intricate details in his productions. His contribution here entitled 'Filthy Nightlife' has the prefect vibe to end the compilation on. The lazy, loose sounding groove and hazy atmospheric surroundings are a match made in heaven. The waning vocal stabs and dubby electronics are really interesting and you just want to sit back and enjoy the grooves as the track develops. The drum elements are really well processed; full of trippy effects and a great texture which is an assault on the senses. A lead synth hook gets slowly weaved into the framework and begins to build in intensity over the second half of the track. The modulation gradually becomes more intense until the groove ultimately drops out and the sonically charged line just annihilates your senses. A very heady track from Jose and like i said it seems like the perfect way to close out this outstanding collection. I don't know how Dominique does it but somehow he must (tirelessly) go through countless demos and eventually come up with a stellar collection every four months. He hasn't missed yet; superb stuff from 3rd Avenue.

        08. AIW - Vabene (Hope All Is Well EP) [Endless | NDL007]

Following on from label head Luca Bacchetti’s exquisite ‘OVO’ EP, ENDLESS is proud to present the debut release from All Is Well – a brand new project from a revered veteran who for now will go unnamed…

All Is Well is a new project from an experienced hand in the music industry, with a back catalogue stretching back two decades. But with such an established position – arguably – comes creative restraints. Being able to take a step back, assess and approach a new project with no guidelines, boundaries or stress is refreshing for an artist. For those well known, the ability to create and release a project under a new name can also be hugely liberating.

"Sometimes we go with what we think people expect from us and then profess to be held back by creative barriers, when in fact these barriers are always creations of our own. A new name is like wearing a mask to a party, acting a different way and observing the reactions." – All Is Well

And so comes the ‘Hope All Is Well’ EP, a sublime three tracker that continues ENDLESS’ short history of releasing music that encapsulates an otherworldly beauty. The title track is a smooth deep dancefloor cut driven by a catchy chord pattern and crisp beats, while ‘Vabene’ encapsulates a rare exquisiteness with it’s chugging bassline and evocative melodic keys and already has a special place in clubbers’ hearts and minds after it was the opening track of Luca’s lauded set at Sunday Debauchery in NYC in June – a set he rates at the finest of the year so far.

The EP is rounded out with the outstanding ‘La Valse De La Pertinence’ that’s led by a call-and-response dual bass and key melody that drives the cut, making it simultaneously groove-ridden and sublime and spacey.

^^ I'm just really glad it is there. I bought immediately which is a great change for anything on Hernan's shows. But I love it that time is sort of irrelevant to Hernan. A great track is a great track and his is a great track. Hernan has spun a bit of his magic over it.

Although the comment about prog house producers being more European , I would have thought Argentina had that honour.
