for research purposes the us goverment and its funded agencies- across lots of differnet research fields - has different categories for race and different categories for ethnicity


Race categories are:

American Indian or Alaskan Native; Asian or Pacific Islander; Black; White; and Unknown.

Ethnicity categories are: Hispanic, Non-Hispanic; and Unknown



so you may see e.g. white from hispanic origins, or white non-hispanic.

Holy fucking shit, this site rocks!! I entered in the zip code of the town where I went to high school and the names of one of my old classmates (since I was like 5) popped up.

Wow, that's the best laugh I've had in awhile. I laughed so hard I almost puked up lunch on my keyboard.
