    05. Guy Mantzur & Khen - Highway Of Regrets [Plattenbank Records | BLZ041]

Guy Mantzur & Khen teamed up to great effect on 'Moments Becoming Endless Time' for Sudbeat [SB042]. Here the duo retune on Guy Mantzurs Plattenbank. The EP includes a Stelios Vassiloudis remix.

    Release Date: 11 August 2014

    [Change Underground Review 9/10]

Guy Mantzur’s label Plattenbank is back with a serious bang. The bass flows through the track like melted butter and carries you along through a stereo journey of gentle percussive riffs, psychedelic effects, and a rich ambience that, like a team of athletes who each know the roles they need to play to win the game, combining to create an unstoppable force (yes, I’m comparing the German football team to progressive house). Beautiful work from Guy Mantzur and Khen.

Stelios Vassiloudis takes his remix in a much different direction, stripping things down to a minimal beat and throws in some of the foundational elements from the original. It’s nothing like what you’d expect but it sounds huge! The groove is addictive, and I can see this making a big impact in a club. Show no fear, and ye shall reap the rewards! Well done to Stelios for this perfectly crafted piece of work!

I loved this EP. Let’s hope we can continue to see more collaborations like this from Guy Mantzur and Khen, plus more outstanding releases like this on Plattenbank.

    [Underground Tel Aviv Review]

Releasing this September through the PlattenBank label- ”Highway of Regrets” by Guy Mantzur & Khen is an elevation to excellence. The boys from Israel know their music and how! I’m confronted by two of the most treasured talents; one of whom needs no introduction of his musical capabilities and the other a rising star in the dance music circuit. The collaboration here equals to awesome.. The title tune is a smooth shiny eloquence of riff memorability, the Bass line is silk and the string synthy quality in the release pervades ones ears with pleasurable goodness all new. Riding in melodic finesse throughout the 8 minutes, haunting Vocals wind around echoing in and out of range. It’s like taking a space flight to Venus, all bristling and beautiful… On the flip, another Dj/ Producer making waves in the scene is Greek music innovator Stelios Vassiloudis and I’m quite happy to see him brandish a remix for the pack which starts off thick and whoops around like a freight train on your senses. The vibe just goes in to an edgy Techno zone. Pretty much stripping all that shine off and making it his stamp throwing in a shuddering Bass line, thumping along nicely with Vocals and some kinda swing groove making it a whole load more minimalistic. He adds a large amount of glistening intensity to it very different from the original..hell yeah!! Overall, quite the spirited release.

    06. Luciaen - The Great Amael (Origins EP) [Basaec | BASAEC002]

Luciaen, AKA Lucien Nicolet, presents the second chapter in his Basaec series, with Origins. The new label from the Cadenza Records boss looks back to the roots of his production career, whilst presenting a wholefully futuristc take on electronic dance music.

Origins (Wild Origins) leads release #2, a colossal twelve minute piece of neo-classical electronics. Waves of arpeggio synth dominate the beat-less track, its mighty stabs and light percussion propelling the track along at great speed and urgency. The heads will no doubt hear inspirations from Detroit techno in here, but you cant put this piece in any genre box, rather its a huge musical showcase from one of dance musics most enigmatic figures.

The Great Amael finds Luciaen in more familiar territory, a lo-fi bubbling groove and dusted Hammond organs hustle along whilst the live percussions shine through. Energetic and infectious, the tone softens with the oceanic pads that provide its classic melody and threatens to envelope the listener in a wall of beautiful sound. A slightly restrained and lighter version of Origins (Mix One) is featured on the digital release, losing none of its magical touch and impact.

    07. Mike Griego - Sofia [PlattenBank Records | Promo]

Mike Griego's 'Sofia' has already been creating a buzz after Hernán played this on the Bloemendaal Beach at Woodstock69. Also charted by Nick Warren, who played the dub on his recent South American Tour.

This is a busy time for Buenos Aires producer Griego, who has been named as 'one to watch' by music sire Change-Underground*. and has a fresh new EP 'Fourth Dimension' out on Sudbeat Music [SB053].
