    Release Notes:

    01. Robert Babicz - Wonderland [Bedrock Records | Beddigi52]
    09. Robert Babicz - Shifting Reality [Bedrock Records | Beddigi52]

Robert Babicz is a man on a mission with sounds and emotions. The Cologne based producer stands out as one of only a handful of artists who are not afraid to breathe life into their productions with true emotion. His music displays a level of honesty and soul that sets it apart from so much of today’s disposable mass music production line. The mark of a true musical innovator, here he once again reveals his talent and skill as one of Europe's most essential techno producers, with three stunning new creations for Bedrock.

Launching with the energetic acidic attitude of the aptly titled “Rave Angel”, this triad of tracks is a musical master-class to behold. You could never get tired of the glorious gut-wobbling bass of “Wonderland” as it opens the door to a twisted rollercoaster ride of a track, while the darkness of “Shifting Reality” morphs amazingly into a truly beautiful heavenly serenade for a finale.

Babicz moved to Germany from his native Poland in 1980 and began making dance music in the early 1990s, when acid house was at its peak of popularity. His career has thus already spanned more than two decades and it is evidently clear from the music that he creates, that he has devoted his life to his craft.

A much-respected connoisseur of sound design and production, his services as a mastering engineer are in demand all over the world. He is also well known as an exciting live performer, utilizing a host of synths and live equipment to enhance the improvisation in every set he plays. But Babicz's art is comprised of more than just his music. He films everything, later editing the images together as a visual accompaniment to his audio. His short films capture the emotions, colours and feel of his trips and, in turn, these then also have an effect on his music, colouring his emotive, unique take on electronica with a very human feel.

If you like what you hear and want to dig a little deeper into the Bedrock back catalogue to check out Robert Babicz’s previous adventures on the label, you could start with 2010’s “Pink Trees”, his remix of Pete Heller’s “Nu Acid”, the stupendous “Welcome To The 90’s” from Bedrock 12, “Eastside” from Bedrock 14, “Rabbit Clouds” from the Underground Sound Of Miami Series 3.

    02. Tube & Berger - Imprint Of Pleasure (Rodriguez Jr. Remix) [Suara | SUARA141]

So... Here we have one of the most highly awaited EPs of the year. Since the transcendence "Imprint Of Pleasure" took being the most sold track on Beatport from 2013 and definitely one of the tracks of the year, we cannot miss the chance to release a remix pack. And then, the big question: ΏWhich artists should remix this track?.

After many discussions, we concluded that we needed four totally different point of views for such an amazing cut. That's why we choose: Monkey Safari, Adam Beyer, Rodriguez Jr. and of course our master cat Coyu.

Each artist gives a totally and unique point of view. Now it's your turn to decide who you think did the best job. We can't decide one. We love them all!

    Release date: 21 July 2014

    03. Patrick Chardronnet - Shibuya (Summer Daze Compilation 2014) [Suol | SUOLDAZE002]

The Berlin based imprint returns with the second installment of its Summer Daze series, bringing a fine array of sun-dappled grooves and melodies.

Carefully curated by label bosses Chopstick & Johnjon, the compilation offers a wide variety of music from across the spectrum, with all but one of the tracks being exclusively released through Suol. It’s designed to soundtrack everything from the warm up pool parties to the peak time club moments - via a beach or two on the way.

Not only have they managed to cram all members of the tightly-knight Suol crew under one roof, but Chopstick & Johnjon have also bucked the label’s usual trend and included music from outside its usual roster, including a hand-picked array of guest producers, close friends of the label and young upcoming talent.

    Released by: Suol
    Release date: 1 August 2014

    04. John Digweed & Nick Muir vs. Pig&Dan - Morphism (Extended Play Remix) [Bedrock Records | BEDVSRMX01]

First of a batch of remixes from the Versus project on Bedrock Records.

    Released by: Bedrock Records
    Release/catalogue number: BEDVSRMX01
    Release date: 11 August 2014

    05. Digitaria feat. Clarian - Favourite Addiction (Groove Armada's Dub Creations) [Hot Creations | HOTC048]

After producing two of the biggest singles on Hot Creations, Brazilian duo Digitaria are preparing to unleash a full-length studio album, Night Falls Again on Jamie Jones trailblazing imprint. Favourite Addiction is the first single to drop and features the brilliant and enigmatic Clarian North. An album standout, Favourite Addiction featuring Clarian has an unbridled energy, cleverly framed by seductive vocals flaunting lyrics that spark with the shimmer of pop but are grounded by the power of raw electro. Hot Creations newcomer Jey Kurmis and industry stalwarts Groove Armada both deliver ace interpretations on a Remix and Dub Creation respectively. Jey brings a thumping techy, rolling groove while Groove Armada takes the track to an other-worldly rave dimension, with epic, dream-like synth melodies and powerful bass to guarantee this release is marked essential.

    Release date: 28 July 2014

    06. David Morales - Tribal Funk (Redzone Project Vol. 1) [Def Mix Music | DMM004]

Paying tribute to his Red Zone sound from the early 90's David Morales visits his trippy roots and delivers a rocking 4 track EP on the Def Mix Music.

    Released by: Def Mix Music
    Release date: 15 September 2014

    07. Amber - One Touch (Keep It Gone EP) [Mobilee Records | MOBILEE 135]

Kevin McHugh aka Ambivalent returns to Mobilee with his second full release under his more house-inclined alias Amber. Having launched the alias with the Waves of Grain EP in January, McHugh has already graced several parties as Amber this year, playing a classic NYC/Chicago house-influenced sets (with an Amber set at Richie Hawtin's ENTER. night at Space Ibiza set for September). Meanwhile McHugh continues to evolve his Ambivalent techno productions, with a hugely popular recent acid remix of Danny Daze on Jimmy Edgar's Ultramajic label, and a collaboration with Michael L Penman on Tronic that continues to climb the techno charts.

The Amber project is one of several McHugh is maintaining at the moment. Originally starting as part of the collaborative project Jake & Amber, their 'This Is Mine' release kickstarted a wave of creativity that allowed the NYC/Berlin producer to explore more melodic sounds influenced by the house music he loves. Having signed the first batch of productions to Mobilee, this second EP is led by perhaps the biggest of all the Amber tracks so far, 'Keep It Gone', which loops its insistent vocal hook over a continuously swelling and subsiding bassline, retaining a sharp acid edge to counterbalance the track's sweeter vocal-inflected side.

This balancing act plays out in the EP's two other cuts, 'One Touch' and 'Pentagon', with both tracks constructed around ominous, powerful bass patterns, illuminated by flashes of synth melody and skittering vocal samples.

    08. Guy Mantzur & Khen - Highway Of Regrets [Plattenbank Records | BLZ041]

Guy Mantzur & Khen teamed up to great effect on 'Moments Becoming Endless Time' for Sudbeat [SB042]. Here the duo retune on Guy Mantzurs Plattenbank. The EP includes a Stelios Vassiloudis remix.

    Release Date: 11 August 2014

    [Change Underground Review 9/10]

Guy Mantzur’s label Plattenbank is back with a serious bang. The bass flows through the track like melted butter and carries you along through a stereo journey of gentle percussive riffs, psychedelic effects, and a rich ambience that, like a team of athletes who each know the roles they need to play to win the game, combining to create an unstoppable force (yes, I’m comparing the German football team to progressive house). Beautiful work from Guy Mantzur and Khen.

Stelios Vassiloudis takes his remix in a much different direction, stripping things down to a minimal beat and throws in some of the foundational elements from the original. It’s nothing like what you’d expect but it sounds huge! The groove is addictive, and I can see this making a big impact in a club. Show no fear, and ye shall reap the rewards! Well done to Stelios for this perfectly crafted piece of work!

I loved this EP. Let’s hope we can continue to see more collaborations like this from Guy Mantzur and Khen, plus more outstanding releases like this on Plattenbank.

    [Underground Tel Aviv Review]

Releasing this September through the PlattenBank label- ”Highway of Regrets” by Guy Mantzur & Khen is an elevation to excellence. The boys from Israel know their music and how! I’m confronted by two of the most treasured talents; one of whom needs no introduction of his musical capabilities and the other a rising star in the dance music circuit. The collaboration here equals to awesome.. The title tune is a smooth shiny eloquence of riff memorability, the Bass line is silk and the string synthy quality in the release pervades ones ears with pleasurable goodness all new. Riding in melodic finesse throughout the 8 minutes, haunting Vocals wind around echoing in and out of range. It’s like taking a space flight to Venus, all bristling and beautiful… On the flip, another Dj/ Producer making waves in the scene is Greek music innovator Stelios Vassiloudis and I’m quite happy to see him brandish a remix for the pack which starts off thick and whoops around like a freight train on your senses. The vibe just goes in to an edgy Techno zone. Pretty much stripping all that shine off and making it his stamp throwing in a shuddering Bass line, thumping along nicely with Vocals and some kinda swing groove making it a whole load more minimalistic. He adds a large amount of glistening intensity to it very different from the original..hell yeah!! Overall, quite the spirited release.

Great guest mix too .. really nice taste.

      File is up now

      Bio

To Ali, his djing excellence is a function of his honesty and compassion. He is terribly ambitious for his cause, but personally humble. His ad-hoc style allows him to entertain his crowd, and connect with them, while pushing them through his music. His growing career tells the story.

From humble beginnings in 1995, Ali Ajami moved from Lebanon to the booming town of Orlando, Florida, a burgeoning dance hub heavily influenced by the British styles of Sasha and John Digweed, and breeding local talents such as Chris Fortier, Jimmy Van M, and Sean Cusick. With his first exposure to the world of house music there, Ali was hooked, and his passion for the music and performing began.

His djing career took off when he moved to Montreal in 1997 and started with a group of friends Liquid State of Mind (LSM), an event production and promotions company that set the stage for the progressive sound in Montreal through their popular events at clubs such as High Bar and Stereo.

In 1999, he moved to Boston and landed a residency at the legendary Chrome Thursday night at Axis with John Debo, and a year later, secured a second residency at Avaland Fridays at Avalon (a 2,500 capacity night that gained international recognition for its world class production and bookings), holding that residency for 4 years. Both residencies provided him with the opportunity to play alongside the best and biggest international acts. His consistent performance gained him massive recognition among the international dj circuit, and earned him Best DJ of the Year award in Boston for the year 2003.

During his years in Boston, Ali had the honor of appearing twice on John Digweed's infamous KISS 100 radio show, receiving great reactions on both appearances, and was listed as a Future DJ Hero to look out for by John Digweed, Danny Howells, and Max Graham, in the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs issue for 2004. To be named that by artists that have majorly influenced him to become a DJ is a dream come true for Ali, but also a true result of his apparent talent, and passion for the music.

Perusing his goal further, Ali relocated to Dubai in 2005, where he landed a residency with Deep Nights at Club Trilogy; considered one of the top nights in the region, where he has been exposing his unique sounds to the Dubai masses and playing alongside some of the world's biggest DJs on a weekly basis. Ali quickly established himself as one of the top DJs in Dubai and the Middle East, winning the 2006 Thirst Studio Gulf Regional competition, which provided him the opportunity to work with Groove Armada in their London and Barcelona studios, and affirmed his position as one of the most respected artists in the region.

Ali's apparent abilities extended beyond Dj'ing though, as he got involved in production and in the record label business; starting off first as head AandR for Sporadic Groove in 1999, a local Boston label, and then launching his own labels (Chug Records and Opek Music) with his LSM crew, and heading the AandR for both. On the production side, his collaborations with partners Chris Micali and Matt Wasley has been released on labels such as Bedrock, Nu-Republic, Swift, and Vapour, in addition to new releases lined up on his new label project Stranded Records with Ohm Records (Dubai), and his recently launched Boston based imprint with Chris Micali, Commonwealth Recordings. Through these projects, Ali remains firm to his original goal - to promote the music he is passionate about, and to work with artists that inspire him.

For Ali, what is constant is adaptation while preserving his core strength. His underlying criterion is simply quality, and cutting edge music. And this cannot be better reflected than in his current sets and production.
