this is so immense ..........

Verdict: this mix was a statement. It was built to showcase how devastatingly effective progressive house can be when programmed correctly. There are no flaws in the execution. Cattaneo builds moods that last in your mind, expertly evolving them through the mix, into more complex notions continuously, which challenge the listener to immerse themselves even deeper in the sound. This isn’t just the best mix I’ve reviewed all year, I would argue that this is the best progressive mix of 2014 by far, and possibly the best mix Balance has ever released. Hernan Cattaneo has somehow managed to make progressive house relevant again and showcased it’s unrivalled power in influencing moods and emotions. He has created a level of quality that goes beyond being entertaining. This mix is profound. It may go down in history as one of the best mixes of all time. Gracias Hernan Cattaneo! 10/10 Perfect

" I’d like to add at this point, this is probably one of the most intense reviews I’ve had to do and has required the utmost concentration, because the man is so seamlessly weaving in and out from track to track, it’s hard even for me to tell when one begins and one ends! I’ve played and heard more sets than I could possibly count, but rarely do you find such smooth transitioning, so that you are literally so enthralled in what is happening you are forgetting your place. The mixing, needless to say, has thus far been absolutely brilliant from Hernan Cattaneo.

And just in case you all thought that first review was a fluke , here is another amazing review.

Zentripz (WMNF 88.5fm Tampa Bay, US) (Presenter): so.... this happened. i listened to this and swooned. like really slumped back in my chair in delight. with a type of audio paraplegia making me unwilling to move except to the beat of this wonderful mix. hernan is a great dj, this is a long proven fact, but this mix, cements him into the history books. recently.. i mean since the beginning the balance mix series has offered great dj's an outlet for pure creativity and here it shows in spades. this is perfection and giving it a rating form 1 - 10 is insulting. adj flawless, superlative excellent foolproof ideal impeccable pure splendid superb absolute accomplished aces adept consummate crowning culminating excelling expert finished sound sublime utopian

This says what I wanted to say about Balance but way better.


Only 9 days till the Australian tour begins . !!

interesting. i live in tampa and never heard of zentrip or this show from that radio station but will look for it now.

It's an interesting mix - the first cd mostly downtempo/midtempo with the energy kicking up a notch once you get to the second cd. Way more vocals than I was expecting.

I've always dug his efforts on Renaissance, and this nicely compliments his work on that label.

This is going to sound weird. Some cds do just sound exactly the same every time I play them . But the cds /mixes etc that sound different to me every time I play them are the ones I love forever. They seem to respond to me personally at any given time. It is like a gift from Hernan . These cds in particular are very much like that.


Hernan always says listen several times before you judge his work and I understand that, he can be so much more complex. But he can’t help that, it’s him and a lot of the reason we love his work


CD 1
The first time I played it overwhelmed me a little. It was so different to Renaissance 17 and Renaissance 17 is very important to me . So maybe I wasn't quite ready for this one. But I have now listened to both Cds many ,many times and every time I find something new and wonderful , another track stands out to me and I know I will also listen to this for many years to come as well. A lot of the tracks will become favourites but the ones that leap out every time on CD 1 are Solitude, Blue shadow, Happy to be sad , Out of the game Sponges , Lunar and of course Dizzy moments. In fact there is only one that doesn’t really appeal and that is Yews -believe, belong


CD 2
Possibly my favourite at the moment. Although that could change ! I love every track . Changes , Underwater , Parallax, Disclosure , Imaginarium and Lotus are the most wonderful for me right now.


I seem to remember saying at some stage that I thought Renaissance 17 was more from Hernan’s feminine side. This one has a much more masculine , and dare I say sexy , power and emotion !!


As always, beautifully mixed and programmed ! Great, great, progressive music in every sense of the word. !
