    Release Notes:

    01. Stephan Bodzin & Marc Romboy - Styx (Synthapella)  [Systematic Recordings |
    SYST0100-6]

So the two brand new moons by Stephan Bodzin & Marc Romboy are finally out on Beatport and on vinyl! Besides the originals you can also grab their typical beetles synthapella versions.

Marc Romboy and Stephan Bodzin have come together for a lethal 100th release on Systematic Recordings. It’s truly melodic Tech House at its finest!

‘Kerberos’ is an exquisite composition. Delicate yet groove-ridden it saunters along, building from a minimal drum pattern to an exciting, arp heavy, melodic masterpiece. Emotive and highly atmospheric it makes for a entrancing listening experience.

The second track on the release is ‘Styx’. The ancient Roman titles are well suited to the classic nature of the tracks one must say. ‘Styx’ follows the techy/melodic direction of the the lead but picks up the pace and departs on a more experimental path. You’ll also find on the release two synthapellas, one for each track! Release coming September 8th from the Mönchengladbach based imprint.

    Release date: 08 September 2014

    02. Laurent Garnier - Wise Words For No Life Guacamoles [Musique Large | ML015]

Laurent Garnier returns to production with a new project: "A13", released by Musique Large. Garnier has been a long-standing fan of the label and its music, and here he delivers four devastating instrumental cuts that show he can throw down with the best of the new blood, beat for beat. This is an unusual release for the French techno pioneer, a timeless take on electronic hip hop beats. The game is up kids, make space for a true master.

«A13» comes backed with four remixes straight from the Musique Large family & Garnier: Baron Retif & Conception Perez, label boss hits two times as Fulgeance and his new project Claude (with Darius Broobecker) plus french house wizzard S3A.

"Garnier sent me his forthcoming EPS, and this one on Musique Large is definitely my favorite !"
    Busy P, Ed Banger

    03. Him_Self_Her feat. Kieran Fowkes - Love You Like I Used To (Dub) [Crosstown Rebels | CRM132]

Dynamic UK duo Him_Self_Her are back on the essential Crosstown Rebels with another bumping deep house burner ‘Love You Like I Used To’ once again featuring the distinctive vocal chops of Kieran Fowkes who also appeared on previous Crosstown hit ‘Gone Too Long’ (which spent 11 weeks at the top of the Beatport chart). Featuring a tough and distorted remix from hot property Francesca Lombardo and the driving cosmic force of UK disco darlings Psychemagik on the flip, this is a house track for the peak season of al fresco hands-in-the-air dancefloors.

Claire and Leon aka Him_Self_Her have been producing together since 2012 when they hit it off on a musical level during their formative time on the local house scene in Leicester. All that it took was one studio session to realise the potency of their union and their genre blending productions showcase a range of deep grooves and disco infused techno with a human heart. With their breakthrough release ‘Gone Too Long’ sparking the attention of none other than Pete Tong, he promptly made it his Essential New Tune and support followed from heavyweight DJs such as Jamie Jones. Next releases came on Elite Records and OFF Recordings.

The classically trained, multi-talented Francesca Lombardo is one of the most successful artists of this era on Crosstown Rebels and with several shimmering releases for the label including ‘What To Do’ and the ‘Changes EP’, Francesca has amassed a sizable global following, entranced by her live instrumentation and vocal performances alongside the Rebels at events such as Get Lost and Day Zero, as well as the worlds dance music meccas DC10, fabric and Panorama Bar.

Undoubtedly two of the biggest stars of 2012, Danny McLewin and Tom Coveney aka Psychemagik are partly known for their prolific output of remixes but first appeared on Crosstown Rebels with a killer original release ‘Black Noir Schwarz’ back in March. Avid vinyl collectors and masters of the re-edit, the duo has released an impressive array of highly acclaimed releases as well as highly-lauded compilations, such as the self-released ‘Diabolical Synthetic Fantasia’ and last years superb ‘Magik Sunrise’.

    Release date: 15 September 2014

    04. Maher Daniel - A Call From Within [No.19 Music | NO19049]

Following on from the critically acclaimed debut album from Louie Fresco released this summer, No.19 Music turn to Maher Daniel for a stunning new single that comes with heavyweight remixes from two of the best names in the game, Martin Buttrich and Subb An.

Montreal’s Maher Daniel is now starting to get the props he deserves having served up an increasingly refined slew of releases on quality labels like Circus recordings and Lee Burridge’s All Day I Dream. Daniel has also previously appeared on the essential No.19 Music, contributing a standout track to the ‘5 Years of No.19 Music’ compilation earlier in the year. As resident at the famous Stereo club in his hometown, Daniel is also a respected DJ who has a deep understanding of dancefloor dynamics as evidenced by this stunning new release.

‘A Call From Within’ is a truly humid and steamy slice of house music with hints of tropical jungle drums and tumbling toms making for a rich organic groove. Tinkling keys, synth tension and magical breakdowns all bring an ethereal depth to proceedings, taking the listener to another dimension; crafting music as sensuous and emotive as this whilst bringing such energy to the dancefloor is no mean feat.

First to remix is Martin Buttrich, a long time production genius who has helped Loco Dice over the years as well as serving up his own essential EPs on labels like Desloat and Supplemental Facts. His first remix is a spooky, spacious affair with a nice loose groove, tons of atmospheric production and a warm, humid air that makes it perfect for lazy afternoons in Ibiza. His second dub mix is busier, with a burrowing baseline, slinky percussion and a serious dub quotient propping up the whole thing in fantastic style.

Also contributing a remix is One Records and Crosstown Rebels associate Subb-An, who is as adept at playing live as he is weaving chunky DJ sets everywhere from BPM to Fabric. His killer version is riddled with gentle toms, is rooted with firm kicks and has scurrying little effects, steel drums and hugely inviting hi hats all making for a devilishly late night floorfiller that demands you dance along; it’s super special and evocative electronic music that stands proud of the competition.

In giving him his own platform, No 19. Music show deserving faith in the ever rising star that is Maher Daniel and the music he serves up as a result is certainly his finest to date.

    05. John Digweed & Nick Muir - Gridlock (Jimmy Van M & Sabb 3AM Remix) [Bedrock Records | BEDDIGI53]

A gem from the vaults reworked superbly by two of the hottest names in clubland, Jimmy Van M and Sabb.

Two mixes to choose from, the 3AM Remix is a melodic chunky gem that beautifully builds as warm pads raise the temperature and tease with with melodics from the original and some clever FX cutting up, making this a serious dance floor moment. Hot!

The second version is the 7AM Remix which sounds like its been made specifically for John Digweed to close his sets and send the dance floor in to a complete frenzy. Epic is a good word to describe this monster remix...

There are also further remixes coming from the winner and runners up of the Burn Residency remix competition which will be available for free download as well as the original Digweed & Muir versions and Henry Saiz remixes.

We really don't need to say much more, we'll just let the music do the talking.

    Release date: 15 September 2014

    06. Terranova feat. Cath Coffey - Headache  [Kompakt | KOMPAKT296]

TERRANOVA returns to the fore with the HEADACHE EP, another impressive assortment of floor-ready house weaponry - after the sublime sophistication of the PAINKILLER EP (KOMPAKT 262) and its accompanying remixes (FM X/PAIN 001), the new material shoves the pendulum back into more rugged club territory, showcasing the sort of sonic urgency and rawness the legendary project has become known for in the first place.

As missing links between the dystopian pop of TERRANOVA's turn-of-the-century work and the slick kinetic drama of their current incarnationon Kompakt, the three cuts of the HEADACHE EP congenially continue the multilayered, nifty thrustof 2012's house nouveau epic HOTEL AMOUR(KOMPAKT 248 CD 95), but also manage to evoke the wonderstruck immediacy of an act burning through its first speakers.

This becomes particularly manifest with the deployment of CATH COFFEY as vocalist fortitle track HEADACHE (also a primer for TERRANOVA's upcoming full-length). A member of iconic British rap outfit Stereo MCs in the early 90s and collaborator of Tricky, the singer was featured on TERRANOVA's initial outings and is a well established presence in their early work. On the new 12", she reintroduces her uniquebrand of battle-hardened, deadpan soulfulness to the searing funk of the reinvigorated project.

HEADACHE, a cover of a song from Birmingham's iconic and controversial postpunk outfit The Au Pairs, as well as its instrumental sequel HEADLOCK are both fuelled by the propulsive beats and upscale hooks we've grown to expect from TERRANOVA, but there seems to be something else at work, too - a somewhat darker undercurrent that may or may not be part of the actual arrangement. In any case, this adds much-needed depth to today's dance floors, providing them with a riveting soundtrack for the most intense of prime times.

There's no need for EP closer TOURETTE to hide behind its compatriots, either: it's a full-blown thrill ride in its own right, brimming with jittery sampling, arresting percussion and some pretty rad bassline abrasiveness thrown in for good measure. A well-placed shot at the dancer's solar plexus, this wraps up the HEADACHE EP nicely, giving players and punters another perfectly valid reason for post-apocalyptic celebration.

    Release date: 31 March 2014

    07. John Digweed & Nick Muir Vs Ian O'Donovan - Dawnbreaker - King Unique Remix [Bedrock Records | BEDVSRMX02]

No doubt you remember the mighty VERSUS project from John Digweed and Nick Muir from last October? The 3xCD album was a huge undertaking and as part of the package the Bedrock duo teamed up with a number of artists to create twelve exclusive new tracks.

Some of the greatest house and techno talent around became involved - Christian Smith, Wehbba, Pig&Dan, Marco Bailey, Henry Saiz, Guy J, The Japanese Popstars, Carlo Lio, Jamie Stevens, Ian O’Donovan, Second Hand Satellites, Jozif and Psycatron – joining forces with John & Nick for this highly creative project, to produce yet more iconic tracks for the label. Ever since the VERSUS release, these originals have lit up dance floors worldwide.

Now Bedrock is developing the VERSUS project further, with a series of single releases that see John & Nick invite a new group of artists to give their creative take on the original album tracks. First up was Extended Play, who got to grips with “Morphism”, the collaboration from John Digweed & Nick Muir Vs. Pig&Dan. Now, we move to the second exciting release, with King Unique twisting the knobs of creativity and breathing a new life into “Dawnbreaker” by John Digweed & Nick Muir Vs. Ian O’Donovan.

The fizzing melodic techno of the outstanding original version has been given the full King Unique treatment here, with Matt Thomas keeping the melodic beauty intact and giving the track a taste of his highly original trademark combination of delicious underground house and tripped-out cosmic techno styling. This is a huge track that is sure to appeal across genre divides, so hats off to another creative master class from Bedrock. Enjoy!

    08. Chaim - Remember When  (Underwater EP) [Visionquest | VQ044]

Like stepping into a warm electronic sound bath, Chaim’s latest release for Visionquest ripples with pulsing sonic textures and propels forward at a softly galvanic pace as the slowly emerging melody takes hold in ‘Underwater’. B side ‘Remember When’ is just as compelling - a slightly tougher edge and darkly euphoric atmosphere injected with sporadic chimes, disembodied voices and dramatic synth stabs. This is a truly hypnotising release.

Now being based in the hub of electronic talent that is Berlin, Chaim is still a true stand out artist in today's fast paced digital world. After a wave of stunning releases on labels such as Supplement Facts, Cocoon and MBF, for a time Chaim worked exclusively with the Berlin based BPitch Control imprint. His acclaimed debut album 'Alive' released spring 2011 on the label and this season his monster Ibiza anthem ‘Blue Shadow’ (on Rumors), has proven his powerful, individual productions to be some of the highest quality club tracks around.

Fusing solid bass heavy grooves, clearly inspired by his love for those classic jacking Chicago jams, hypnotic synth hooks, trademark affected percussion, live instrumentation and vocal snippets, Chaim's unique and organic sound always makes an impact. Underpinned by top-class studio knowhow, his crisp, forward thinking records are a joy to drop in front of even the biggest crowds.

A heavy DJ touring schedule has seen the enigmatic Israeli grace the DJ booths of Fabric and Panorama Bar to name a few, and his work with the BPitch crew has highlighted him as an exciting figure amongst the current electronic scene. Visionquest is proud to welcome Chaim to the fold.

    Release date: 25 August 2014

    09. John Digweed & Nick Muir Feat. The voice of John Twelve Hawks - 3B3 [Bedrock Records | BEDTRAVIN1]

3B3 by John Digweed & Nick Muir Featuring the voice of John Twelve Hawks is the debut single taken from the forthcoming album project titled "The Traveler" released in October.

'3B3' is a raw and visceral slice of angular acid, complete with the tripped out and foreboding musings of one John Twelve Hawks. On the flip we have Robert Babicz who goes tęte a tęte with his very own 303-obsessed, 90s pseudonym - Rob Acid; for a remix takes John and Nick's version into deeper, more undulating waters.

    Release date: 08 September 2014
