Man, when it was still around, Matsuri was one of the most innovative electronic music labels to grace round slabs plastic. Its last couple years of releases remain to this day some of the best stuff out there. Ju Ju Space Jazz, Joujouka, Something Wonderful, Quirk, Digitalis, Ubar Tmar - those final releases pushed musical boundaries that were never meant to be pushed. When they quit releasing just goa and went 100% freestyle, something magical happened.

But I guess that experimentation was also largely responsible for losing them their usual goa-freak fan-base and putting them out of business in the end. I was extremely sad to see them go. At least Tsuyoshi is still kicking some serious ass. It's no Matsuri, but his Feedback Rec. label still manages some quality tunes on occasion. And he is still one of the most under-appreciated DJs in the world today.

I did and even spun trance for a good long while...Got sick of the rat race and the "internet" crowd that has all the new songs before the DJ does so they'd bicker about your mixes not being new enough...Seems the "house" crowd is more about the music and the enjoyment thereof versus the shelf-life of a track once it's conceived. That and lately, it's all sounding the same (trance music) I can't differentiate Ronski Speed's newest release from his last one or the one that Smith & Pledger released the week before that...They need to teach these "trance" kids about basslines...

        trance

I too like trance.. but not what's currently out now. I'm talking about the older more quality trance.. '96 - '99/'00.

And of course I have Oakenfold to thank for that (Why I liked it and why I dont anymore)

Anyway, I still love to spin the classics I have on my shelf every now and then... its great stuff! I still go on Ebay and try to collect the more hard to find and/or rare stuff just to collect. I looooove vinyl.

I still listen to trance, although I'm very selective with it. I dunno, once I like somthing, it's hard for me to totaly get turned off by it I guess. Prog house/breaks still make up the majority of my files though.

Cheese trance is awful, but there's still some good stuff out there if you look. These past few years though, the music has been wayyyyy too repetitive, and I think that's what's wrong in alot of people's minds. The whole motorcycle/oceanlab stuff is just so overplayed and cheesy!!

I like trance very much (not all styles)... It generates a different emotion in me that progressive... Like both of them...

the first genre that got me into electronic music was trance. Especially Tiesto's material from late 90's/early 2k. But, not too much later, I got into house and thats all I listen to now. Every now and then, I'll play a trance cd.

Fist it was Techno, the real Techno of the late 80's and early 90's.

Then I got inot good Deep / Vocal House (Strictly Rhyth sh!t)... after that I was very much into Hard House and clubbing followed by Acid/Drum N Bass (DJ Misjah stuff)... After this I completely stopped buying records and mixing...

Then Oakenfold came along with his Goa/Trance, and I fell in love once more with electronic music...that's when everything else exploded in my face...(all other Genre's).

                      I love music.

Still listening to trance, but not hard trance or other crap, just some nice vocal trance tracks, or quality sets from Markus, Armin...

I still listen to trance hoping the music would become as good as it was back in the days. Haven't heard anything great lately though...oh well one can only dream.
