this whole quaran thingy, might be false

obviously most of you have heard about this. but seriously, does this count as torture? i know it pissed off the whole region, but then again, what would have happened if the extremists attacked the vatican like they had planned.

now they are demanding we hand over those responsible, to which i reply "PPFFFFTTTT!!!!"", so they are promising a holy war. all this because newsweek said someone peed on a copy of the quaran and flushed another. so get ready for about 500 kids posting videos of themselves shitting on the book over the net.

i know some of this is sarcastic, but its monday morn and im tired..........

    any thoughts? :?

What do you expect from extremists in the first place. Putting things in perspective isn't really their strongest point eh...apart from that: it may even just be another way of trying to feed anti-American sentiments. Really cheap, but you can see it works...

i think the real question is, what happens if they convince those ""extemist simpathizers"" to actually begin a strong offensive under the moniker of a holy war. even worse, what happens if they use the holy war to attack religious points like the vatican or some Jewish holy areas??

then i think it would get really bad. i thought about it for a minute, and in all honesty, what would happen if they bombed the vatican as it is the primary target point of the christian reilgions, even those who dont worship the pope?

Re: this whole quaran thingy, might be false

I really kills me that the alleged desecration of a book full of myths and legends can spark this kind of response. Ok, what if someone did flush it down a toilet??? Going out and rioting and killing your fellow countrymen is going to help things in some way??!! It just goes to show...these people wait for and look for any reason to take to the streets, holding up signs and chanting. And if that reason has anything to do with the US??? Forget it, someone's got to die, even they have nothing at all to do with the situation.

If someone flushed as copy of the Bible (another collection of myths and legends) would there be this kind of response through out the Christian community, with riots and killing??? Uhhh...no. 'Nuff said.

Newsweek should be held 100% responsible for their actions, but the response has just been another excuse for these idiots to riot and denounce the USA. They take every chance they get.

My repsonse to the idiots rioting ---->

the worst thing about it is, as a NY'er i know i basically have a bulleye on my back because NY is the first target if those assholes decide to do something stupid in desparation. they have done it twice in the last 15 years and im sure it will happen again, i just hope it doesnt happen ever again. :?

all it will take is our gov't standing behind it's citizens by refusing to hand them over or press criminal charges, and one radical cleric calls for a holy war. its fucked.

yao, actually they found plans for an attack on the vatican some time back. included were street layouts, building plans and bomb materials. i couldnt tell you where they found them, but i think it was definetly in europe, maybe UK. and by some time back i mean about a month or two ago....

i just feel bad, because these people who think the whole world hates them are literally bringing a very large rabid dog upon them and their peoples the more they act irrationally.

Damn, I didn't know that...puts things in a whole new perspective.

I'm no believer, so I couldn't care less about the church n stuff, but this would make it really hard to define their 'enemies', and thus make it harder to stop them since the spectrum of possible target becomes greatly increased. And if that happens, it may be time for all lefties (accoring to some here that includes me) to reconsider their open mindedness, cos it ain't gonna save your ass when the bombshells penetrate your body :?

                      "a very large rabid dog"

think of all the nations would pretty much be pressured by thier citizens and basic international pressure to jump to the defense if they hit the vatican or Jewish hierarchy.

Newsweek should be held responsible somehow for their horrible reporting and the deaths that resulted of their reporting. The question I can't get away from is - why print such a story that you know will incite problems if you aren't completely sure the story is correct?

This is another example of the media being a joke. Ny times and Jason Blair, Dan Rather and CBS News, and now Isikoff and Newsweek.

Finally, why would you riot in the first place over hearing a book was allegedly flushed down a toilet somewhere else? If someone flushed the Bible in Iraq, I wouldn't start rioting here in Texas.

The same reason Dan Rather would report false info about Bush's National Guard service...publicity and another reason to bash Bush and his administration.

Exactly. Read the part in my previous post about "these people wait for and look for any reason to take to the streets, holding up signs and chanting. And if that reason has anything to do with the US??? Forget it, someone's got to die..." We have more sense.

yeah, you could hold them responsible, but for what reason outside of bad publicity. there is no criminal charges unless they named names. they cant be held responsible because people rioted over this. and for people to ask that the editor be handed over to islamic courts is just plain reatrded. what is he guilty of?
