    01. Weval - One [Kompakt | KOM 318]
    02. Weval - Easier [Kompakt | KOM 318]

Hearing WEVAL's music for the very first time, you might wonder from what geniuses' vault of vintage milestones these sounds have been pulled: the Dutch duo's incredibly catchy arrangements seem perfused by a rarefied pop magic that only a chosen few have truly mastered. Surely, this must be the work of a well- established veteran – or two youngsters so massively talented that it borders on the obscene. Weval's EASIER EP is here to demonstrate that it wasn't an accident, either - with four epic cuts that will haunt you long after you've left the floor.

The 2013 debut "Half Age EP" from Dutch newcomers Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers aka WEVAL struck a perfect balance between ingenuous simplicity and warm melodies: a rare moment of rapture and certainly one of those records that you wish you would've released yourself – which is probably why we smuggled an exclusive Weval track onto the tracklist of our much-acclaimed "Total 14" compilation (KOMPAKT 310 CD 11. There, the duo's dreamy, yet dynamic variant of slow-burning, sweeping house held up more than well with the other high caliber names present on the record - leading us directly to the phenomenal outing at hand.

With its glistening melodies and rousing beats, WEVAL's EASIER EP displays a staggering sense for danceable drama - spread over four expertly crafted tracks that will speak to your hearts and feet through radiant synths, ardent vocal snippets and sublime melodies. From pawing opener GIMME SOME to synth power ballad ONE, the introspective THINKING OF and title anthem EASIER, this is a rather beautifully flowing listening experience, not at all betraying the slightly yeasty circumstances of its creation: "we made this EP in two totally different moods", the producers explain, "we were both totally in love with two different girls, but for both of us it didn't work out – and to be clear, this was not our choice."

However, the defeat led to a phase of high productivity and research: "we felt terrible but we had a new EP we could work on and spend days and days finding a new sound." A couple of months and gear updates later, "the winter was gone and surprisingly it all worked out with those girls." Suddenly flush with happy feelings, Harm and Merijn finally hit the stride and quickly wrapped up production – resulting in an impactful wealth of emotions permeating all four tracks: "you can almost hear these two different moods we were in – it gets from cool, euphoric to dramatic and intense at the end."

    Coming on // November 24, 2014 (physical & digital)
    Format // 12"
    Catalog Nr // Kompakt 318
    EAN // 880319097416

    03. Elliott Power - On The Windrush (UNKLE Reconstruction) [Marathon Artists Limited | MA0036DB]

Elliott Power drifted onto our radar in May last year with his moody, trip hop-inflected Sink/Swim. Since then, Power's gone on to work with Tri Angle's WIFE on the song Portend, and line up his latest single, On The Windrush.

On The Windrush comes backed with a remix by James Lavelle, turning in an UNKLE reconstruction of Power's spectral song. Lavelle's remix seems to explore the same sort of territory as a band like Factory Floor - bubbling bass, clanging percussion, hypnotic repetition, disembodied vocals - but it moves into floatier, more euphoric, more UP! territories by its third act.

Keep your eyes peeled for Elliott Power's debut album, due next year. Read James Lavelle's guide to the 13 tracks that defined That's How It Is, the clubnight he ran with Gilles Peterson from the early '90s through to 2005.

    04. Iron Galaxy - Came and Went [Born Electric | BE007D]

So celebrating two years of our label, Born Electric 007 is finally here, and it’s the second release for us by the insanely talented Iron Galaxy from Montreal. There is something to be said for the ‘authenticity’ in how these productions sound, having been created almost entirely from outboard, and in some cases, vintage gear. With that in mind it seemed wholly appropriate to employ the remix skills of fellow gear-heads, Serge & Tyrell from the acclaimed Clone records in Holland.“According to my computer, Serge and Tyrell’s ‘Touch The Sky’ is my most played record ever, I first played it for the birth of Born Electric at our Boiler Room launch so this release has come full circle with them now on board” James Zabiela. In keeping with the style of ‘Touch Sky’ they produced a killer acid house remix for us already finding early support from Paul Woolford, Eats Everything and Detroit Swindle.

    Release Date : 17 November 2014

Montreal producer iron Galaxy (a.k.a. Adam Hodgins) is someone we've kept a close eye on since he issued his debut single, "Attention Seeker", back in 2012 (a record we deemed one of the best tracks of that particular year).

Having been somewhat quiet in 2014, word has now come that the native Canadian will release a new EP before the year is through. A former Bubblin' Up artist, Hodgins' next outing will find him returning to James Zabiela's Born Electric imprint, through which he released the Things We Lost Along the Way EP in 2013. The producer's forthcoming Came and Went EP will offer three new tracks which appear to continue finding Iron Galaxy crafting moody, R&B-striped house productions flushed with hardware tones. 05. Villanova - AR 2 (Roomba Rose EP) [My Favorite Robot Records | MFR114]

Young Parisian duo Villanova is the next to offer up a new EP of their original wares on My Favorite Robot Records with a feature from Canadian outfit Flowers & Sea Creatures.

Before now Villanova, who have backgrounds in jazz piano, and enjoy everything from Thelonius Monk to Larry Heard, have released their own material on My Favortie Robot Records as well as having remixed the likes of Agoria and NAOME for the Toronto imprint

The first cut here, ‘Roomba Rose’, is an ambitious number with plenty of drama and tension throughout. Full of spraying synths, jangling melodies and muttered vocals, it’s a cinematic affair that evokes a world of mental metropolitan imagery. An instrumental mix of the same track makes a bigger deal of the metallic 80s synth patterns and seems even more imposing as a result.

Next is ‘5 O’clock in the Morning feat. Flowers and Sea Creatures’, a Montreal pair that has released on Kompost and Buzzin’ Fly and always offer up carefully crafted and hugely cultured stuff. This serene, captivating track is much the same. It starts with ambient synths, pained vocals and lots of swirling ambiance before a gentle patter of drums join the fray from down below, slowly powering the epic track along. A spooky and trippy club mix sends just as many shivers down your spine and is just as unique a proposition, but is beat driven for extra DJ usability.

Lastly, ‘AR 2’ is a broody, dark and minimal track with clicking perc, eerie female whispers and beautiful vocals that will truly stun dancefloors. It’s a fine bit of work with lots of intricate synth patterns and tripped out tones that closes out what is a stunning EP.

    06. Philip Bader - Circus (Feel So Good EP) [Saved Records | SAVED113]

A close-knit and much loved member of the Saved family, Philip Bader has always fostered a great relationship with the label through his ability to bring out his eccentric personality and party spirit in everything he does. Whether he’s releasing records for us or playing at one of our nights, Philip always brings an unmistakable energy and charisma that gets into the heart of everybody around him. The Berliner now returns to Saved with a three-track EP of peak-time, stonking techno that highlights everything we love about this great producer.

“Feel So Good” flies straight out of the traps with pounding 4/4s, deep swabs of bass and a grinding, driving groove. It’s hard-edged techno with a warehouse / industrial aesthetic, but made accessible and floor-friendly with a wildly addictive groove that runs throughout. “Terrazza’s House” continues in much the same vein, tapping into a dark, intense and energized sound. Snapping rhythms, chopped-up vocal FXs and a rolling bassline give the track a more spun-out feel but the focus still remains on the dancefloor.

“Circus” has a lighter feeling, its tumbling, tribal-like drums and swinging groove giving the track plenty of personality. Old-school vocals add a timeless quality to the tune, just as the fluid bassline adds the momentum. Insatiably groovy with an inherently funky feel, this is addictive stuff from one of our true friends.

    Release Date : 24 November 2014

    07. Booka Shade - Mandarine Girl (Eagles & Bookaflies Remix) [Get Physical Music | Promo]

Mandarine Girl was originally release on Get Physical Music ‎in May 2005 [GPM 029] and remain a milestone for Booka Shade & Get Physical Label, also featuring on M.A.N.D.Y.s compilation 'Body Language Vol.1'.

Here eagles & Butterflies provides a remix.

    08. Dusky - Yoohoo [Dusky Music | 17STEPS002]

Is there an app called Make An Essential New Tune? One where you rearrange elements, click a button and then—whoosh! There's Pete Tong's record of the week for your enjoyment. On the evidence of "Yoohoo," Dusky may already be beta-testing it. Heavy, crowd-pleasing kicks? Garagey snares? A familiar vocal loop (here culled from pop drum & bassers Kosheen)? It has them all. All it's missing is a dose of Italo piano to send the older listeners misty-eyed on the drive home—until that arrives, too. And yet for all the predictability in Dusky's latest offering, you can't help but warm to their never-ending quest to make anthem after anthem. They're like a rave version of the Brill Building songwriters.

Dusky toughen things up with the dark house of "Akebono." If you have a passing knowledge of sumo wrestling, then its title rather telegraphs its intentions. Like the legendary dump truck-sized American fighter of the same name, it hits the floor with an almighty thump, displaying the sort of enthusiastic regard for punishing, runaway beats that Underworld once dealt in. Such is its stripped back nature—a groaning synth line aside, there's little else to it—you'd be forgiven for thinking that the lead track was the work of a different artist altogether. [RA]

    09. Vince Watson - Illusion (Wink Re-think) (Deja Vu EP) [Ovum Recordings OVM-250]

Vince Watson proudly presents preview's of his debut single on Josh Wink's Ovum Recordings. This release is a special one as it is the final act in Ovum's 20 year anniversary celebrations and is release no 250.

It will feature 2 beautifully laden deep techno tracks from Vince as well as a beatapella and a one off ambient mix. The release also features a very special Josh Wink remix.

The single will be released on December 1st 2014.

    10. Him_Self_Her - Don't Fail Me Now feat. Calder (dubspeeka Remix) [Suara | SUARA156]

On November 24th the highly successful duo Him_Self_Her will make their highly anticipated debut on Suara. Their cut "Don't Fail Me Now" recalls sounds that will attract listeners from around the globe and boasts an alluring vocal line, from Calder, which slowly builds to an emotive peak. The Original track comes backed with two dancefloor-focused remixes from Dubspeeka and Sonny Fodera which pushes the release into overdrive! Ladies and gentleman, this is music with feelings.

Free of conventional air travel, this is for a soaring heart and a flying mind, it is the other way of flying, the type which is different and unique in its effect it has on you. Otherside is a label for this psychoacustic music, the music which tickles your brain with its love for detail and rinses your ears from the sticky stench they are exposed to in the streets and clubs every day. According to William Blake 'if the doors of perception were cleansed, life would appear as it is: Infinite.' Welcome to the Otherside.

    Release Date: 21 July 2014

    02. Robert Babicz - Wonderland (Rave Angel EP) [Bedrock Records | Beddigi52]

Robert Babicz is a man on a mission with sounds and emotions. The Cologne based producer stands out as one of only a handful of artists who are not afraid to breathe life into their productions with true emotion. His music displays a level of honesty and soul that sets it apart from so much of today’s disposable mass music production line. The mark of a true musical innovator, here he once again reveals his talent and skill as one of Europe's most essential techno producers, with three stunning new creations for Bedrock.

Launching with the energetic acidic attitude of the aptly titled “Rave Angel”, this triad of tracks is a musical master-class to behold. You could never get tired of the glorious gut-wobbling bass of “Wonderland” as it opens the door to a twisted rollercoaster ride of a track, while the darkness of “Shifting Reality” morphs amazingly into a truly beautiful heavenly serenade for a finale.

Babicz moved to Germany from his native Poland in 1980 and began making dance music in the early 1990s, when acid house was at its peak of popularity. His career has thus already spanned more than two decades and it is evidently clear from the music that he creates, that he has devoted his life to his craft.

A much-respected connoisseur of sound design and production, his services as a mastering engineer are in demand all over the world. He is also well known as an exciting live performer, utilizing a host of synths and live equipment to enhance the improvisation in every set he plays. But Babicz's art is comprised of more than just his music. He films everything, later editing the images together as a visual accompaniment to his audio. His short films capture the emotions, colours and feel of his trips and, in turn, these then also have an effect on his music, colouring his emotive, unique take on electronica with a very human feel.

If you like what you hear and want to dig a little deeper into the Bedrock back catalogue to check out Robert Babicz’s previous adventures on the label, you could start with 2010’s “Pink Trees”, his remix of Pete Heller’s “Nu Acid”, the stupendous “Welcome To The 90’s” from Bedrock 12, “Eastside” from Bedrock 14, “Rabbit Clouds” from the Underground Sound Of Miami Series 3.

    03. Stereo MC's - Good Feeling (Terranova Remix) [Graffiti Recordings | GRAFF014]

Mr G and Terranova head up the remix package for Stereo MC's 'Good Feeling' released on Graffiti Recordings this June. Together, Rob Birch and Nick Hallam form the chart-topping UK duo Stereo MC's and In the run up to their 'Best of' box set due to drop this Autumn on Universal the guys are releasing a series of brand new singles & remix packs via their own label Graffiti Recordings. Birch & Hallam designed the series to illustrate their prevailing connection to the underground electronic music scene in Europe and for the first release of the series the guys have enlisted the talents of Mr G and Terranova. UK legend Colin McBean aka Mr G has put out a vast majority of his work through his own imprint Phoenix G while the remainder found homes at other labels such as Rekids, Moods & Grooves, Ben Sims Theory Recordings and Defected. As an artist, everything Mr G does is embedded with meaning and his re-imagining of 'Good Feeling' is no exception - he bubbles the ethereal male vocal alongside an opulent bass line with shifting percussion to deliver a track with tidal temperaments. For the second offering the German duo Terranova, made up of DJs & producers &ME and Fetisch, deliver a warm punchy cut with a striking piano arrangement in the mid section. Between them the duo have collectively clocked up releases on Kompakt, Saved, Not On Label and Keinemusik so its no surprise they come through with a warm dynamic remix for 'Good Feeling'.

    Release Date: 09 June 2014

    04. Franck Roger - Balance [Home Invasion | HI4]

Home Invasion is the new label from Real Tone man Franck Roger, a man whose career has scaled the full depths of house music over the past decade or so.

Evidently seeking a new challenge, the Parisian's new imprint promises to adhere to a vehemently underground way of working, with every EP released on vinyl-only terms and produced exclusively on analogue equipment. This time Franck is giving us 4 tracks that will surely please a bunch of different Dj’s worldwide.

A1. Rebound is another dubby and crushy experience, using his Tempest drum machine and jamming with some external effects, keeping it going on & on, focusing more on an abstract ambient vibe.

A2. Nebula keep the already marked sound of Home Invasion.. a mix between Deep-Afro and very Cosmical vibe.

B1. Deep Theory is a classic tribute to the New York sound from the 90’s, it reminds us some of the Blackwiz K.O.T work in his abstract approach and simple groove.

B2. Balance is definitely the one that has a drive for the dance-floor, hypnotic stabs, rushed drums, this one is a sure shot clubby track.

Already supported by Brawther, Jimpster , Dj Deep , Okain, Djulz, Pirupa, Chateau Flight, Ame Kristian, Dj Sneak , Sebo K, Josh Wink, Ian Pooley, Ben Sims, Osunlade, Daniel Stefanik, Sasha, Clive Henry, Hector Moralez, Raresh, Tiefschwarz , Louie Vega, Cesar Merveille, Shinedoe, Damian Lazarus, Anja Schneider, Norm Talley, Francois K, Dj T, Agoria, Fred P, Laurent Garnier, Jennifer Cardini.

    Distrib : Syncrophone - Paris

    06. Douglas Greed - Driven feat. Mooryc (Seth Troxler Remix) [Bpitch Control | BPC295]

Anyone looking for the shapely fusion of club music and chubby pop appeal will not go past Douglas Greed this summer. "Driven, his debut album for BPitch Control, is following not only the extraordinary "Fake EP" (BPC284), but gathered in endorphin rich manner the many talents of the Jena-based producer: pulsating melodies meet pleasurable power chords, catchy sounds come upon humour and melancholy.

The title track is an impressive appetiser of his Eating Snow project with Polish singer Mooryc and with the combination of hymnal vocals and the swarming slo-mo pathos, the track is clearly one of the many highlights of the record that comes now in five powerful interpretations.

The jester and prankster Seth Troxler begins his remix with a nostalgic atmosphere, which is accompanied by an impatient bass and gazelle-like miniature claps. While kick drum and delicate percussion roll out the house carpet, the beautiful steel drum sounds arise a breezy summer feeling that invites you to dream already a gem for this years festival season.

The French DJ and producer Chloe plays with the chopped vocals of Mooryc on her version. This staccato-driven style with its vocal pinpricks releases a conjuring aura, whereby the hypnotic bass line targets the dance-floor.

Upon You Records label boss and Watergate resident Marco Resmann starts his remix with a monotonous drumbeat, whilst the adventitious soundscapes evoke a mixture of menace and melancholy. Although he almost entirely omits Moorycs timbre, his interpretation is carried by a deep devotion. The colourful synth dialogue not only sprays a soft French touch, but also particularly emphasises the joyous potential of the original.

The British drumnbass producer dBridge concentrates on purification, while the classic tech-step sound constitute the basis of his version. With a decelerated character, dBridge includes nuanced percussion next to a scratchy guitar delay and occasional interspersed bass drones. Last but not least, there is also a small comeback we can celebrate.

After four EPs between 2001 and 2005, the Frenchman Feadz returns with his Greed remix once again on BPitch Control. His galloping version not only houses a wealth of fine sounds, with short and ticked loops the hedonistic party fun stands in the foreground. Feadz alternative hip-hop design is framed by not only high pitched vocals but dominant wild percussion as well as a special bass rule of three. "Driven Remixes" - strong quality release!

    Release Date: 11 July 2014

    07. Jemmy - Breathe In ft. Leza Boyland (Zombies in Miami Remix) [Bedrock Records | Beddigi54]

After releasing 'Waterloo Blues' and 'Quarry Bank' in the past 2 years, Jemmy returns to Bedrock in 2014 with 'Breathe In' featuring the vocals of Leza Boyland.

Alongside the excellent original with it's luscious chords and trippy layered vocals comes a remix from Zombies in Miami who toughen it up a bit and focus mainly on a tight percussive groove using the vox very sparsely.

We don't really need to say anything else, we'll let the music do the rest of the talking.

    Release Date: 29 September 2014
    Label: Bedrock Records
    Catalog Number: BEDDIGI54

    08. The Martinez Brothers & Seth Troxler - Space & Time [Tuskegee Music | TKG001]

House Music Luminaries and Dance Music Evangelists Seth Troxler and The Martinez Brothers are proud to present the first release ‘Space & Time’ on their new label, Tuskegee. A label of cultural heritage, expect some very special releases to come in the ensuing months.

Watch out for forthcoming release from Seth, The Martinez Brothers and William Djoko amongst other esteemed producers

    Vinyl only - etched artwork.

    09. Anja Schneider – Revolution [Mobilee Records | MOBILEE130]

Named after the weekly *Dubmission* parties at the storied E-Werks nightclub, the latest release from *Anja Schneider* relays the sounds of her earliest musical experiences in 1990s Berlin, where DJs like Kid Paul powered the party, and amplifies the techno spirit of the old electrical substation for broadcast worldwide.

Further transmissions are detected within the bubbling techno of “Revolution,” inspired by the political upheaval throughout the world, as well as shifts within the dance music scene itself, and on *“Can You Feel It,”* which features a spoken word dispatch by vocalist *Parsifal Marin* of Brussels Pony Club that continues the long house music tradition of club tunes about rave experiences.

From Mr. Finger to Miss Kittin to Seth Troxler, many of the most memorable cuts in house music history spell out, with spoken words, the experience of clubbing while in the club itself. Meta-musical moment found to be effective on the dance floor. So it goes with “Can You Feel It,” the latest by Anja Schneider to pay homage to the Chicago greats, following last spring’s Ron Hardy-inspired “Hey,” which became an instant fave when Anja dropped it at the always in demand Mobilee rooftop parties in Barcelona.

Expect the same response in summer 2014, when “Dubmission,” and flipsides “Can You Feel It” and “Revolution,” hit the ears of sun-kissed partiers worldwide.

    10. the.art.of.FY feat. Asia Argento - Come (Dubfire Remix) [SCI+TEC Digital | TEC100]

For their 100th release SCI+TEC is excited to present something very special…

Rolling with a lucid low-end groove and Asia Argento’s sultry purring sermon, this rich, bulbous bass joint is coded with the intricate attention to detail Dubfire has long since been associated with. Dynamically deep but sonically hulking, this is Dubfire at his darkest and most demonstrative. And it comes with a unique story that befits such an exceptional release…

Several years ago Ali Naderzad, an old college friend of Dubfire’s, moved to Paris, became a film critic and befriended critically acclaimed writer, director and actress Asia Argento. Famed for pushing herself creatively in a myriad fields - from writing novels to modelling - her involvement and passion for music led to an album. Released last year on Nuun Music, Total Entropy was penned with scene-shaping Italian producer and musician the.art.of.FY (Michele Pauli). When he heard “Come”, Ali Naderzad instantly thought of his old friend for a remix project.

“I met Asia at the Cannes Festival in 2013,” says Naderzad. “I heard her album and got hooked immediately. The music has a lot in common with Dubfire’s deep and dark sound and I thought of him immediately for a reboot of "Come." It was that eureka moment, I guess!”

He instantly joined the dots between Dubfire, Asia and producer Pauli and the talented trio knew they had something special on their hands: Pauli’s original stark sonic bedrock, Asia’s sensuous spoken words and Dubfire’s ability to inject his twisted sonic signature while paying complete respect to the original ensured this remix of “Come” would smash in all directions.

With such strong connections and such a wealth of creativity behind it, SCI+TEC knew it would be the perfect record to highlight their centennial release. Celebrations don’t get deeper or more discerning than this.

    Release Date: 24 April 2014

    11. FiberRoot - Space Localizer [Ellum Audio | ELL019]

Ellum Audio are back for another killer release with a double sided, two track bomb which sees Shall Ocin take the A-side and FiberRoot take the B-side. Shall Ocin’s ‘Lurking Wolves’ hits with a thundering bass and driving force with trippy melodies and sonic FX zooming through the atmospherics with powerful impact, while FiberRoot’s ‘Space Localizer’ rumbles and grumbles in the lower end, building into emotive warm keys before kicking straight back into the deep groove.

Originally from Argentina, Shall Ocin aka Nicolas Abalos first started releasing music in 2010 under the name Paneoh on labels such as Bedrock and Connect Four. Now under the name Shall Ocin he releases on labels such as Ellum Audio, Culprit LA, Get Physical and Leftroom Limited.

Hailing from Valencia and still currently calling it home, FiberRoot is also welcomed to the Ellum Audio imprint. With his first release making its mark at the end of last year on MLP Music Label, he’s since released on the likes of Sincopat and Restore Music.

Both have been featuring heavily in Maceo Plex’s recent DJ sets to great effect..!

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.
