    Release Notes:

    01. Interpol - My Desire (Beyond The Wizards Sleeve Remix) [Soft Limit | Promo]

"A mesmerising transformation of the NYC group's new single."

Erol Alkan and Richard Norris's Beyond The Wizard’s Sleeve project has been an intermittent collaboration, including an album of re-edits ('Ark 1') and remixes ('Re-Animations Vol. 1'). Earlier this year, after a prolonged absence, they re-appeared, remixing Alkan’s own Phantasy signing Daniel Avery’s New Energy.

Now, the duo have come together to remix Interpol's new single My Desire, from recent album 'El Pintor'. Erol Alkan has history remixing the band - he transformed 'Our Love To Admire's Mammoth back in 2007.

On this version of My Desire, BTWS remove Interpol's trademark sliding guitars completely, adding synth loops and droning, atmospheric undertones in their place before introducing Paul Banks’s vocals.

El Pintor is the fifth studio album from American rock band Interpol. This is the first release without founding bass player Carlos Dengler, with bass duties being covered by frontman Paul Banks. The album was self-produced and recorded at Electric Lady Studios and Atomic Sound in New York City and engineered by James Brown (Foo Fighters) and mixed by Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins, Nine Inch Nails). It also features guest artists Brandon Curtis of Secret Machines, Rob Moose of Bon Iver, and multi-instrumentalist Roger Joseph Manning, Jr.

    02. Nteibint feat. Birsen - Riptide (Dub Mix) [Eskimo Recordings | 541416506867D]

Following on from the Eskimo EP ‘Never Without You’ back in April, NTEIBINT returns with another divine disco classic featuring Birsen on ‘Riptide’.

Renowned for his work with Warp Records and Chet Faker, NTEIBINT is known for lush and sonic soundscapes, masterfully produced and taking the listener to new dimensions. ‘Riptide’ follows in these steps with a dream-like melody built from dextrous layering instrumentation around a casual pace, and bewitching vocals from Birsen, that elevate the record to a pop classic. Complete with a dub mix ‘Riptide’ yearns to be heard again and again.

o+ NTEIBINT (say : n – thaï – bint) is the music project by upcoming producer George Bakalakos. It all started with a remix for Jamie Lidell´s ‘Little Bit of Feel Good’ on Warp. Following that release, George focused on producing several remixes for artists like Light Year, The Rapture, Alex Gopher and Chet Faker. Following EP’s on Bang Gang and Kitsuné, the ‘Never Without You’ release on Eskimo was the logical next step. His track ‘Baby’ is on The Green Collection, the third installment in new a compilation series on Eskimo based around colours. George is also the host of a daily radio show on the Athenian radio station En Lefko 87.7.

o+o Birsen is in a fresh and upcoming Belgian band called Hydrogen Sea that is making big strides and also writes for Belgian pop star Selah Sue.

o+o+ Eskimo launched in 2000 and since this time has nurtured some of disco’s most infamous faces and veterans such as Ivan Smagghe, Headman, Rub N Tug, Chromeo, Aeroplane, Lindstrom & Prins Thomas. Fast forward to 2014 and Eskimo still encompasses a cosmopolitan European roster and electronic pop framework out of their Belgian base. They have established themselves as a hotbed for new talent, continually discovering exciting new talents and responsible for building the careers of recently established artists such as Satin Jackets, Blende, Vinny Villbass and NTEIBINT. Its colour compilation series have notched up the Pink, Blue and Green Collections which are a go to for the future heroes of electronic music.

    03. Villanova - 5 O'clock In The Morning feat. Flowers and Sea Creatures (Club Mix) (Roomba Rose EP) [My Favorite Robot Records | MFR114]

Young Parisian duo Villanova is the next to offer up a new EP of their original wares on My Favorite Robot Records with a feature from Canadian outfit Flowers & Sea Creatures.

Before now Villanova, who have backgrounds in jazz piano, and enjoy everything from Thelonius Monk to Larry Heard, have released their own material on My Favortie Robot Records as well as having remixed the likes of Agoria and NAOME for the Toronto imprint

The first cut here, ‘Roomba Rose’, is an ambitious number with plenty of drama and tension throughout. Full of spraying synths, jangling melodies and muttered vocals, it’s a cinematic affair that evokes a world of mental metropolitan imagery. An instrumental mix of the same track makes a bigger deal of the metallic 80s synth patterns and seems even more imposing as a result.

Next is ‘5 O’clock in the Morning feat. Flowers and Sea Creatures’, a Montreal pair that has released on Kompost and Buzzin’ Fly and always offer up carefully crafted and hugely cultured stuff. This serene, captivating track is much the same. It starts with ambient synths, pained vocals and lots of swirling ambiance before a gentle patter of drums join the fray from down below, slowly powering the epic track along. A spooky and trippy club mix sends just as many shivers down your spine and is just as unique a proposition, but is beat driven for extra DJ usability.

Lastly, ‘AR 2’ is a broody, dark and minimal track with clicking perc, eerie female whispers and beautiful vocals that will truly stun dancefloors. It’s a fine bit of work with lots of intricate synth patterns and tripped out tones that closes out what is a stunning EP.

    04. Marc Miroir feat. Elif Biçer - Let Me Go (Dub) [Paso Music | PASO042]

"Superb collaboration by Marc Miroir and Elif Bicer (Ostgut Ton), the instrumental track itself is strong and the vocals added by the vocalist make a magnificent house music piece. Fortunately it’s also pressed on vinyl so probably this great tune won’t be fastly forget in this digital era." [datatransmission]

Marc Miroir teams up with Elif Biçer on PASOmusic. What a perfect combination!

Elif is well-known through her collaborations with several Ostgut Ton artists. Her voice is outstanding and you can hear her passion for music in every single syllable.

Marc Miroir has just celebrated the anniversary of 10 years PASOmusic in September 2014 and 'Let me go' now is another milestone in the label's history.

'Let me go' combines Marc´s sure hand for highly unique yet functional club music with Elif´s astounding voice. 'Let me go' comes in two versions and you can be sure that it will burn down every dance-floor around the world. The songs are co-produced by Evamore´s Ronald Christoph.

    Label: Paso Music
    Cat. #: PASO042
    Formats: Vinyl 12″, digital
    Release Date: 01 December 2014

[RA] Beneath the likes of Get Physical, Souvenir and Innervisions is a rung of Berlin labels that over the years have played a big part in shaping the city's club scene. With a ten-year back catalogue that spans Berlin's myriad dance floor trends, Paso Music is one such example. For the imprint's latest EP, head-honcho Marc Miroir teams up with well-regarded local vocalist Elif Biçer for Paso's biggest record in recent memory.

Taking as comfortably to serene deep house (Prosumer & Murat Tepeli, Steffi) as she does gloomy techno (Ben Klock), Biçer has proven a versatile performer since first picking up the mic, in 2001. On "Let Me Go," she's presented within a thumping club frame that recalls Steffi and Virginia's 2010 smash "Yours." As agile stabs march across a bed of throbbing kicks, fizzing claps and a floor-shaking bassline, Biçer adopts the role of tech-house diva, exploring the full range of her striking tones. The result is a straightforward peak-time weapon. By comparison, the dub mix is considerably stripped-back. Leaving out much of the clutter of the original to ensure a less turbulent ride, it's likely to prove popular amongst a more considered strand of DJ.

    05. Anja Schneider - Love Tube Thinking (Jimmy EP) [Mobilee Records | MOBILEE 141]

When your debut set on Pete Tong’s Essential Mix starts with a Masters At Work remix of Saint Etienne and ends with Kraftwerk epochal “Computer Love,” the tunes in the middle better hold their own. That was the challenge Mobilee head Anja Schneider set for herself on her recent addition to the legendary BBC radio program, and she delivered with the help of a debut from Maya Jane Coles, a classics from Underground Resistance, and an airing of her own latest, “Jimmy,” which, with it’s propelling conga loop and haunting organ climax, made for one of the most memorable moments of the two hour session.

This achievement will be no surprise to anyone familiar with Schneider’s history as a producer, club DJ and respected radio host, with her own Dance Under The Blue Moon program filling the Berlin airwaves since almost 15 years. And while she has been teasing us with “Jimmy” since July (when it surfaced on her mix for John Digweed’s Transitions podcast), the time has finally come for it appear in it’s complete form, released on vinyl and digital as Mobilee141.

On the b-side is “Love Tube Thinking,” a previously unaired acid house cut that offers its own spine-tingling peak thanks to the vocals of Patrick Heym, the latest singer in a long line of collaborators Anja has called upon to give her music that extra dancefloor magic. It makes for a magnificent one-two punch of a release that DJs can now use in their own essential sessions.

    06. Butch & Hohberg - Thai Cubenis (Vinyl Speed Adjust Remix) [Otherside Music | OS002]

New 12" from Butch & Hohberg on their brandnew label Otherside Music. The Diferit remix is vinyl only.

It is far from difficult to see why the track from Butch & Hohberg earned its name from one of Thailand’s psychedelic mushroom. The production is abundant with spiritual chanting, hypnotic elements, subtle usage of sitar, as well as natural sounds such as water droplets.

Guerilla Agency Romanian duo are on remix duties, with Vinyl Speed Adjust incorporating their inimitable intricate percussion whilst spectral synths beckon enchanting vocals to the mix. Released only on the vinyl format, Diferit also demonstrates a remix composed of a convoluted rhythm, however the vibe is more vigorous with more emphasis on the drums as opposed to integrating Asian influences.

    Release Date: 11 November 2014

    07. Martin Landsky - Rejected (Joeski Dub) (Four Jacks Pt.3 - 15 Years of Poker Flat) [Poket Flat Records | PFR155]

Poker Flat Recordings has been dealing out underground house music with a unique twist since 1999; from the defining debut "Loverboy" through the Bugnology series, acclaimed albums and worldwide club hits, Steve Bug's essential imprint has unearthed new talent, developed rising stars and welcomed veterans into the fold. Steve Bug's reputation as an exceptionally gifted DJ, producer and music connoisseur is about to carry the beloved imprint to its 15th anniversary, which will be celebrated with its finest collection of raw talent yet, starting with this first installment of the anniversary series called 4 Jacks.

Following the winning format of the series thus far, Part 3 boasts two slamming new remixes of classics from the vault, and two brand spanking new tracks from Poker Flat's stellar roster. Argy's "Love Dose" of 2005 marked the debut of one of the scene's most fascinating newcomers, and defined the sound of minimal courtesy of an unforgettable remix by Luciano; now getting a 2014 update, the track has been taken to by the talented duo Audiofly, who makeover its identity with their signature sleek deep tech style.

Two heavyweights go up against each other next, as Joeski tackles the Martin Landsky classic "Reject"; the deep jacking soulful groove of that track is remade with a unique take on tough house beats by the Maya Records master

Providing the originals side of the 4 Jacks coin are UK favourite Mark Henning, who applies his signature dark pads to a tech house humber with a light touch on "Mad Half Hour", while Dario D'Attis provides some authentic squelchy retro funk on the irresistible "96000". Three of the 4 Jacks have now been revealed, proving again that at 15 years deep, and Poker Flat Recordings is still at the top of its game.

    Release Date: 17 November 2014

    08. Emerson Todd - Love Somebody (Sascha Dive Dy-Na-Mix) [Danse Club Records | DCR017]

Emerson Todd has been at the top of his game since emerging onto the scene in 2008. Now resident in Berlin, the Australian producer and DJ has found favour with labels like Saved, Upon. You and Apparel and here turns out the 17th release for Danse Club Records. It features one original cut with a wealth of tidy remixes from Sascha Dive, label heads Brodanse and Nathan Barato, and follows on in the label’s fine tradition of serving up hot house tracks that make floors dance.

‘Love Somebody’ is a subtle, slow burning deep house track with magical starry melodies, crispy percussion and a seductively deployed male vocal whisper. A monster bass-line sweeps up from below to really beef things up creating one of of the best things Todd has done.

Up first to remix are Brodanse themselves, aka Scott and Austen Smart, who have turned their hand to many great tracks before now and have won innumerable fans as a result. Their mix is a more full fat, rounded and rich tech house groover with warm bass, chattery percussion and tons of dance floor appeal.

Next up is deep house & techno don Sascha Dive, boss of the Deep Vibes label and someone who always turns out high class music. His Dy-Na remix repackages the track as an organic, humid cut with woody hits, nice dubby chords and a direct groove that is simply irresistible.

Last but not least, Canadian Nathan Barato, who impresses with his tech sound on labels like Cajual and Area Remote, steps up to round out the package. His version is druggy and stripped back, texturally rich and almost militant in its groove. It’s the sort of busy, heady track that will encourage floors to get freaky in the dead of night and offers something uniquely different from the original.

Once again here The Danse Club label has put together a careful considered package that will appeall to DJs and dancers alike.

    Label: Danse Club
    Catalog Number: DCR017
    Release date: 15 December 2014

    [knightsoftheturntable]

Australian producer Emerson Todd is about to release his new track ‘Love Somebody’ on Brodanse & Nathan Barato’s ‘Danse Club’ label this December.

Bursting onto the scene in 2008/09 with a string of quality releases on labels like Dirtybird, Anabatic and We Come In Peace, Todd has diligently carved out a name for himself with his quality style of deep/tech house tracks. Now based in Berlin, Todd is sitting pretty at the top of his game with further releases on Saved Records, Apparel Music and now this the 17th release of the classy Danse Club label.

The package for this release is hefty, remixes come from label heads Brodanse, Nathan Barato and a further remix from Deep Vibes boss Sascha Dive.

‘Love Somebody’ is a relaxed 4/4 deep house beat that has plenty of charisma mainly due to its excited top-line percussion. There’s more flavour in the form of a spoken male loop and a nice spaced out synth melody that paves the way for a growling bass-line to drop in stirring up the dynamics of the track.

Next up is the Brodanse remix. The boys quicken things up with their lively tech-house arrangement. Driven by punchy kicks and riding top percussion, this fuller version of the track is more floor orientated. Low growling notes, detuned male vocal shots and commanding synth stabs all add weight to this stylish late night vibe.

Sascha Dive takes his turn next. The credible German is widely noted for his quality techno productions but he also knows his way round a deeper sound which he leans towards with this remix. He drives the track deep into warm arrangement of woody percussion elements and sustained ethereal synth notes that daintily play on top of this irresistible direct groove.

Finally, Nathan Barato closes the package with his militant groove that commands attention. There’s plenty going on from the start on this one, layers of percussion create a wicked groove before introducing some killer drum build-ups. Barato adds some crazy effect shots into the mix that really add just that right ingredient to make the track an all-out tech-house banger.

Overall this is yet another fine release from the Danse label and the carefully selected remixes will no-doubt cater for all tastes.

    09. Joseph S Joyce - Vedanta (Sebastian Mullaert Remix) [Default Position | DEFP004]

This record is named after an ancient philosophy based on the Vedas, the sacred scriptures of India. The music, originally composed and produced by Joseph S Joyce and later remixed by Sebastian Mullaert of Minilogue, was greatly inspired, after reading commentaries from Swami Rama Tirtha’s biography “The Scientist & Mahatma” - Chapter 1 - Vedanta and The Secret of Success.

In the book he states: “Vedanta requires you to work for its own sake. In order that your work should be successful, you should not mind the end or care for the consequences or the result. Let the means and the end be brought together, let the very work be your end” Vedanta is available digitally & as a limited edition vinyl.

The Sebastian Mullaert remix is also featured on Sven Väth's annual mix compilation "The Sound of the 15th Season".
