ROTS is still head and shoulders better than Phantom Menace, but then again that's like arguing which is better - hospital food or airline food.

Don't pass go, don't collect $200, just go directly to the movie theater and see this as soon as you can. Saw it last night... fantastic!

I'm terribly disappointed with this movie.

I got to say the trailers sold it to me very well and I was expecting way more from it, only to find that this movie was poorly executed with no depth into its characters.

The plot is very similar to some past ones. I guess history does repeat itself in its own tragedy and its called the force awakens.

Didn't like it either, way overhyped. Was too cheesy and predictable. The main bad guy was some stupid emo teenager, not suited to being who he was related to. The main big evil looked like something out of a Harry Potter movie. You could see the big "ZOMG don't die, so sad" moment coming a mile away, about an hour before it happened, they basically spelled it out.
The main actress with a British accent! Like WTF, they're in a galaxy far far away, they don't have British accents. And neither do the aliens that live on her planet. And WTF are Scottish guys doing in space too?

Loved the original trilogy from the 70's-80's, they were untouchable. Should have left well enough alone.
That's disney trying to milk the shit out of things like they're doing with marvel studios, churning out avengers movies every other week.

So yeah, didn't like this. Wasn't awful, but not movie of the year by a mile, was so many better films released this year.

wow. such negativity?? was a bad ass movie imo. sure the plots were similar but by god at least they got some people that can act in this one (unlike 1-3 which are un-watchable), almost all non stop action too. definitely exceeded expectations!!!

imax 3d was the shit btw, HIGHLY recommend seeing it that way.

I have to agree with all this. I was very excited to see this, I even bought the tickets for Imax 3D like 2 months ago and I'm not even a fan... but I was terribly dissappointed... the acting and the story line is lame.

for me, there are so many weak points that I don't even know where to start...

As Ger said, it wasn't awful but an average movie of the year so far.

Sorry for all the negativity guys

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens

Straight outta Compton was the movie of the year for me.

And as far as summer popcorn movies, Jurassic world was the one that entertained me most when I thought it was going to be shit.

Someone on the net said about the old Star Wars and new Star Wars, the old ones had natural magic to them, people lining up around the block to see them. The new one is forced on us, we're told to like it and it comes off shitty. Even though the nostalgia in the movie is forced and can't mask the bad points and crappy plot lines that I was talking about.
