Jefferson Tyler, who was born and raised in South Mississippi, first caught the DJ bug while living in New York City. The resident djs @ Twilo (Sasha & Digweed) seemed to spawn a new era of music appreciation. After leaving NYC, it was almost impossible to go back to his roots to start a newly found driving passion to dj. However, since moving to Atlanta, GA in 2001, Jefferson has become a leading force in the Atlanta dance music scene.
Today, Jefferson's style has been influenced by artists such as Desyn Masiello, Danny Howells, Miguel Migs, Steve Porter and Luke Fair. His residence with Flavourset Productions, ( www.flavourset.com ) has taken him to New Orleans, and in 2003 to play in Miami for the Winter Music Conference.
Moving into 2005, Jefferson aggressively promoted himself, by submitted mixes to various labels, and online radio stations. His two part, 2005 Promos impressed a guy buy the name of Faisal Sultan, who created the well respected website, Frisky Radio ... http://www.friskyradio.com . Faisal responded to Jefferson submission, by asking him to be featured as the "Artist of the Week", the week of Feb. 7th.
Not bad, for the first mix you send out. To compliment, Frisky has continued to play Jefferson's mixes. A total of six mixes since Feb.
2005 has been Jefferson's best year, since he began djing back in 1999. It's only made his passion more real for him. Any dj will agree ... that it all starts somewhere. It starts for each dj, because their passion for the music finally comes together in a individual uniqueness. Jefferson is beginning to see what sound defines him and it has finally been recognized.
Back in Atlanta, you can find him spinning throughout Midtown, where one night each weekend, he continues to lay out a well appreciated deep-tech house flavor. Consumed by listening, mixing, reading, and learning more about our own dance music culture, Jefferson is well on his way to becoming a recognized name in the global dance community.
