Re: Houston we have lift off Sasha E-mix

I think it's a great mix. No, it's not what he sounds like at 5am eyes closed-mixing sounds that came from nowhere, scaring the pants off of me, but it is an incredibly solid set. He was given 2 hours in a studio, live, to create a great solid mix that would show the world a few tracks that he'd be psyched to hear and play in a given two hours.
I think it's fantastic! It's got a ton of great vocal tracks, a great build, it's not super crazy afterhours sounding, but a solid expression of what and how he feels these days. It's a f@#king 2 hour party, y'alls!! I think it's hilarious what some of you write withour backing any of it up. What were you expecting?
The greatest thing about Mr. Coe is that I never know what to expect. It's always a surprise, it's always brilliantly mixed and remastered, and it always sounds perfectly different every time.
Glad to have this new addition to my collection.

By the way, to all you peeps who expect sasha, or any dj for that matter, to provide you with a set that sounds like something you've heard before...you are forever going to be dissapointed. And why go out for that matter? Just stay home, play Northern Expeditions or GU13 over and over until you turn 50 and have missed the whole evolution of what we're so lucky to be right smack dab in the middle of.
    Peace.

IMO, the most epic Sasha EM is May 95.

That mix summarizes what I experienced back in the day...

mmglobal - you hit the nail on the head. Its a good set, with some killer tunes in it.There will always be some tunes people dislike, but I bet if it was soem unknown dj we'd all be loving it, just because its Sasha he divides opinion

If this was packaged as a Back to Mine CD it would get rave reviews!

Great tracks and arrangement. I agree with you mmglobal its great to part of the evolution. Its a keeper!

Its always nice to have some variety ... in 2003 people where whingeing about him playing the same old tunes - now when he tries something groundbreaking, different, energetic and inspiring everyone still moans !

This release was mastered direct from vinyl at the request of the DJ and as such features natural sound characteristics of this medium such as record surface noise.

                        brilliant IMO
anyone that doesnt think so, doesnt understand what is actually going on in his new mixes.

Think about mixing two records, especially when you are new to mixing, and how you are trying to keep the levels balanced and bringing in the song at the right time.
Now, imagine doing that with each indivdual part of a song and not just two records.
people can have their issues with the fact it is digital and not vinyl, but christ, he basically recreating songs on the fly...

I thought this mix was alright. I liked the live in avalon mix much better. Sasha's essential mix just got really boring as it went on.

GMIM"s really DO have more fun, don't we?? Mickey kept shoving drinks down our throats in VIP, that's why we both dissapeared for so long. And I was like "I really like Veuve," and he's like, "yeah, that's vodka and Veuve mixed together, you can't even taste the vodka can you??" I know it sounds sooo gay, but it was fucking great! Could be my new cocktail! Plus with the theme for the evening being "rock and roll" I only thought it was appropriate we play the part.
Gotta love Sander for always bringing one of the best parties around every f@#king time!!
                              Peace.

It seems that I have gone through a major TRANSFORMATION.....on the second listen I really am taken away by the mix....It is truly remarkable.

I must have been in a real shallow mood or something yesterday to find the set boring....Not sure why. Its funny sometimes you have to listen to things more than once to truly understand and repsect it. Really a great piece of work....
