Jail for driver who decapitated friend

MARIETTA, Georgia (AP) -- A drunken driver who veered off the road and decapitated a friend was sentenced to five years in prison Wednesday.

John Kemper Hutcherson, 21, pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in the death last August of 23-year-old Frankie Brohm, whose head was severed when the car grazed a telephone pole support wire. The two men were on their way home from a bar after a night of drinking when Brohm stuck his head out the window because he thought he was going to be sick, authorities said.

Police said Hutcherson was apparently unaware his friend had been decapitated -- and drove more than 10 miles to his parents' home, where he went inside and fell asleep with the headless body still in his truck. A neighbor discovered the body the next morning.

Investigators said Hutcherson's blood-alcohol level was probably more than twice the legal limit at the time of the accident. Brohm's family had asked for leniency for Hutcherson, who was the victim's childhood friend.

Now that I think about it, the story may have originally been posted. The developing news was that the trial was complete (he pleaded guilty so there goes that) and the driver was sentenced.

only in america can you drive drunk(crime 1), get into an accident(crime2), have someone die as result of your actions(crime3), flee the scene(crime 4), and then only get 5 years in prison, which will end up being 2-3 in reality.

Q: if you are smoking pot in your house, and no one can smell it, does it actually harm anyone?

A: not in the slightest, but dont worry you can still murder someone and serve less time.

Much agreed. Fascinating book if you ever want to read it, by Eric Schlosser (who wrote 'Fast Food Nation') called "Reefer Madness". Delves into the waste of money that goes to fight "crimes" such as pornography and Marijuana. Also discusses the status of illegal immigrants on the strawberry fields of Southern California. Definitely worth a gander.

there is another one, i forget the name, but i think woody harrelson narrates it. it shows stuff from back in the 40-50's about the eprception of pot smoking, and how it will make you murder people, and you will think you can fly, etc...

Just know that the book 'Reefer Madness' is in no way, shape, or form related to the old movie 'Reefer Madness' except that it shares the same title and has a chapter dedicated to the government induced paranoia about Marijuana. Like I said, the book also has sections devoted to the attempted propagation of morality as it pertains to pornography and the illegal immigrant trade out in SoCal.
