how tough is the market now?? i have been firing off resumes and have not heard from anywhere, nor am i confident that i will. i am looking for IT positions, anyone have any experience with this that can help me out

depends.
IT pros in NYC are in abundance. find a large tech or trading firm. wall street is the heart of the job sector for IT people. other companies of note are MERC, MTV, NASDAQ, NYSE, JP Morgan Chase, the TV networks all have major offices here. shoot for the huge companies.

one thing i would do right away is call your highschool and college alumni association. they usually are able to connect you with people.
also, never underestimate your old professors, they always know someone in the industry and usually are willing to help out good students, so i hope you went to class and werent a prick while you were there.

this is my next step. i was not a pr1ck, and was a bit of a partier and i had alot of friends. i did not go to much class though, and my grades were sh1t. i am just going to fire off some e-mails to former students in fields i want to work in and hopefully i get some positive responses.
