    Short tracks or long tracks

I always prefer that a dj chooses to mix a few long but really quality tracks that each stand out on its own, than a lot more shorter tracks, which are mostly filler anyway

looking at the dj mxing culture in the last decade the trend of putting tons of tracks in a mix has become a standard, and isn't it a bit annoying?

obviously not everybody does this, but most do, and i really wonder why? is it the matter of the attention span? do people really get bored that quickly that they need to hear a new track every 3-4 min instead of 7-8 min?

Yergy, the epic house days are long gone. And I think you're right about attention span. But it's also a reaction against progressive house and its excesses. Or maybe it's just cyclical.

It's annoying when people are terrible at it. Techno djs (Detroit) have been doing this since the 90s with straight vinyl and multiple turntables, and it works. Today's technology makes everyone a "techno dj" and it doesn't always translate across all styles and you end up with a boring lifeless set music that either doesn't go anywhere or is all over the place.

been listening to a 4 hour set of Guy Gerber from bpm fest: the mixing and tracks were pretty good, but man, did he give them more than 2 or 3 min each? no he didn't! it was like when you get loads of new tracks so you quickly listen to each of them by skipping 'cause you have no time, great experience
