question of sasha w/ableton

i want to know what is the thing sasha use with ableton.

i know.... is a mixer, but why he use his own ???

the mixer he uses in the mavon. There is a picture of his set somewhere on here. It is like a midi controller from what I heard. Where he can layout tracks and then edit with his controller. The way it looks it is kinda like a joystick.

I think he needs a new one though. It seems the button that loops the intro to Way Out West's "Anything But You" is stuck

its also his audio interface(im guessing), as theres audio inputs/outputs on the back of it. im also guessing that those 6 green lights on each fader select clips inside of live.

i use live for production and for our monthly promo CDs...its amazing and intuitive. its a CPU hog but its worth it.

the maven is the start of something really big. it wont be long and there will be a throng of knockoffs. its a MIDI controller really...thats not that technically challenging. i would imagine the hardest part was making the audio interface side of the equation. its a beautiful piece hes made for sure.

The specific Maven controller that Sasha uses isn?t commercially available (it?s custom built for him), but you can get these cool controllers called Faderfox, which are built for Live and also for Traktor.

I?m thinking of buying one or even two myself. The point with the Faderfoxes and Sasha?s Maven is that they?re conceived to replicate the layout of Live?s "Session View".

This "Session View" is unique to Live (even though Cakewalk?s Project 5 now imitates it with something similar called "Groove Matrix"), and Sasha built his Maven like that because it wouldn?t be possible to fully take advantage of Live?s mixing capabilities with a normal midi controller or DJ mixer.
