Sike! Seems like you have the coolest parents in the whole world! I was fortunate enough that my dad took me to see Peter, Paul, and Mary when I was 6 years old. I guess that explains why I produce imaginary animal-themed music. Oh well...what life would've been like if he would've taken me to see Marshall Jefferson or Lil Louis instead.
A good shower head and my right hand - the two best lovers that I ever had.
There was a weekend not too long ago where my friends and I spent most of the time chasing the sounds of James Zabiela. From one state to another, it was quite an extraordinary attempt at capturing those dynamic, monstrous basslines. In the process, as Australians and as a part of the Commonwealth, we were supposed to be celebrating the Queen?s birthday. Celebrate we did, but not for the obvious. That weekend we honoured not a birthday but the addictive beats of electronic music. And for the most part, we worship those beats and its executors with the same abandonment as a cleric would worship the symbol of his religious beliefs.
So, it was on that particular weekend that I discovered the technical and musical delights of James Zabiela. I thought that one particular realisation was enough for me. But no, there was more to come and it would be in the guise of a young San Francisco resident. Rocking up to my friends? house after a rather perfect musical adventure, I didn?t think there was much more for me to discover and leave me surprised. But a certain promo was played and that promo belonged to Christopher Lobsinger. And surprise took a backseat to awe.
That "friend's house" is mine, and that 4.5 hr live Zabiela set she refers to is currently spinning in my car and - all going well - will be up next on my Proton Radio show.
