Simply does not get any better than Hernan
The latest release from Tenampa Recordings sees producer DAVI drawing on his heritage to build a progressive and innovative selection of house for the ‘Armenian EP’.
LA-based producer DAVI has been making a name for himself with releases on the likes of Rebellion, Bits and Pieces and Anjunadeep, leading to support from DJs such as Damian Lazarus, Robert Babicz, Eelke Kleijn, Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Way Out West and James Zabiela. Having made numerous appearances on the Tinseltown club circuit, DAVI’s deep and melodic sets regularly venture across the rest of the States and Europe with him featuring at major festivals such as Burning Man.
Lead track ‘Metanoia’ kicks off proceedings, drawing on evocative live instrumentation and ethereal ethnic vocals to bring the Armenian theme to life. ‘Ordinary Nightmares’ is a more direct and propulsive cut with taut delayed stabs and space age pads riding over a rock solid rhythm section. For the penultimate track ‘Metanoia’ returns in ‘Club mix’ form with muted bass and subtle snares added to the lush pads and middle-eastern vocals of the original. Finally the package closes with ‘lllusion’, a hypnotic bass fuelled workout that weaves an Arabian feel through it’s subtle use of melody and percussion.

Patent Skillz is a Bulgarian music label, established in Sofia in 2012, now based in Berlin, working in electronic music industry and manifested from the long-term vision of two professional partners - Zhivorad Milich (Dj Lion) and Denis Georgiev who masterminded and founded it. As a prosperous and unique team, they have contributed essentially to each other's creativity and technical skills, which is essential and inevitable condition for ultimate high-level success.
Movement Recordings is an Independent Music Label based in Greece, focusing on Music Releases, Artist Management & Event Promoting services. The label was found in 2008 by Tash & Stage Van H as an official sister-label of DJM Productions (Event Promoting/Mgmt), an imprint responsible for plenty of successful nights in Greek clubs.
The aim of the label from day one was to release fresh and innovating tunes establishing Movement Recordings in the international music industry, after a bunch of releases including fresh artists & promoting producers.

Howling’s album Sacred Ground stands for many things at once: collaboration, improvisation, simplicity, unexpected happenstance. It is a wondrous synergy of both artists (Ry X and Frank Wiedemann), with tangible elements of Frank’s characteristic sound (deep, layered, amalgamative) creeping in ever so slightly amongst the profound freeness of Ry’s vocals and production. But the project takes both artists to someplace new altogether: beautiful, hypnotic soundscapes that somehow hold a sense of abandon and a sense of being found.

Plattenbank are on a total roll at the moment, and this latest release looks very unlikely to slow their momentum, with a great new track from none other than Guy J and a wonderful remix from label-boss Guy Mantzur.
Guy’s original of ‘Stolen Memories’ sees him in a deep, techy mode, with biting percussion and reverberating metallic stabs leading the charge, and a low-slung groove and a hypnotic two-note hook soon establishing themselves. Guy J uses lightning forks of melody very sparsely, so that they lift the track at just the right moments, while the main breakdown reduced things almost to a whisper before unleashing a moody finale.
Guy Mantzur’s recent remix of Chicola on Plattenbank was sublime, and his take on Guy J’s track here is at least as good. The rolling bassline is very reminiscent of another fantastic Mantzur remix on the label recently, Mike Griego and Amber Long’s ‘Sofia’, while the top end shimmers with delicate chimes, and the breakdown introduces a tripped-out, evocative melody, which reemerges towards the end of the track to leave a final emotional-high water mark. If anyone wants to tell you that the classic progressive house sound is dead or obsolete, just play them this beauty.
This is a must-have release from Plattenbank, with a superb original from Guy J, and another slice of perfection from Guy Mantzur on the flip-side.
