well, for starters I guess, I have never considered any of the mixes I have done as a promo (I am aware someone could hear a mix and use it to gauge my skill/style and a mix of mine could end up helping to promote me) but I'm not marketing myself as a DJ or actively trying to "break into the scene"... I try to do a mix every week, and at minimum two a month, so i can grow and learn while having a hopefully nice mix to share and to learn from and have as a record of where I was as an artist.... so to speak.
I never post a tracklist right away becuase i never got a tracklist before going to hear any DJ or band, and I find it fun to listen and be surprised and taken along for the ride...
If I only play outside my home a handful of times ever, thats ok with me as long as I am still enjoying and loving what I do with music. If I try to play the game of selling myself or worry about doing things the way "the industry" expects formats or even just if I do anything because i think thats what someone else wants to hear and/or see... then I'm no longer being honestly creative, or simply put
It wont be fun anymore or it wont be somehow magical to me
god help me if that ever happens....
if you want to know a track, I'm glad to share it, just after you listen and decide you like it for the sound and not the name.... right?
Tracklists are important in that they give credit where credit is due. The artists and remixers who made the music you played are given the props and credit for making work that was good enough for you to play. If you wrote the track yourself then that's a whole other story.

I completely agree, I just prefer to hold off on posting it for a few days after posting the mix, so that the mix is one whole single piece, and then after it's heard dissecting it.... It's the nature of this genre of music to have some mystery about itself (for me it is a big piece anyway) there are plenty of tunes that never get ID'd till weeks after being played out if ever sometimes... I agree about giving credit totally... but my mixes are packaged with a name and their sound only.... I want to be able to say that they can stand on their own without any preconceptions negative or positive.... I kinda feel strongly about that.
