The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe

I read about this somewhere, but don't see it in a search. I read the first of the books when I was a kid and it was great, and am real excited to see this become a movie... even if it IS a Disney movie. Anybody else heard about this production?

If you look around their site, you can find a spoiler trailer for the movie, and they even say that the special effects are being done by the same people that did the effects for Lord of the Rings... should be pure class.

i saw some making of the chronicles of narnia recently.
it looks like they`re financiers (disney?) are dumping a lot of resources into making it look cool. a lot of weird animals like centaurs and shit.
all i have to say is this is hollywoods first attempt at epic fantasy after the lord of the ring masterpieces. and that`s not an easy act to follow.

Saw the trailer last week in New Zealand, where most of it has been filmed... looks wicked. Out in December ? about the same time as Peter Jackson's King Kong

Re: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe

One of the big entertainment rags had a big expose on it a few months back -- looks amazing alright. Apparently they're trying to set it up like the LOTR in style and content - quality acting, lights out sfx, and aim it at both adults and kids. I can't imagine they would have an individual film for each book (what was there 7? 8?), that's a huge gamble on the studio's part, they'll probably tie a few together into one larger film.

Big fan of the series as well - haven't read them in ages but I remember "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" very clearly. I never knew until recently that C.S. Lewis and JRR Tolkien were close friends, even had each other edit some of the other's work - certainly explains the similarities in the tone and quality of the two writer's stuff. Great reads.

                There are 7 books...
                The Magician's Nephew Quiz

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Quiz

The Horse and His Boy Quiz

                Prince Caspian Quiz

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader Quiz

                The Silver Chair Quiz

                The Last Battle Quiz

I agree that they would need to combine books into one movie if they make more than one. The books are a lot shorts than the likes of Harry Potter and LOTR.
                Look forward to this!

I'm hoping this will not be an animated series.

Hopefully it will be something along the lines of Spiderman in terms of fx etc.

Apparently the screenwriting has already been commissioned for Prince Caspian and if the franchise proves successful The Last Battle is likely to complete the trilogy... Apparently.

so they are going to make 3 movies out of 7 books?

due to the size of the books, I think that makes more sense. not like they are Harry Potter size books.

I read The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe when I was younger. I loved the book, and remember watching a movie that was either on BBC or Public Television. I can't remember. It wasn't animated though.
