agreed. camden yards is fucking beautiful. the wharehouse behind it was restored using the same lot of bricks that the stadium used, so they look like they are one huge structure. when i went to preakness i went to the game on friday. i had to walk up to the upperdeck and just look out over the stadium to see that place in whole. place is amazing. the whole setup of it, how you walk into the stadium by walking through the outfeild walkway. you can see everything. so cool.

yup...all of the new stadiums are doing the same. bars/bbq's inside the stadium walls...not sure, but i think that's what they're gonna do with yankee stadium. make it an event, not just a baseball game. new york definitely needs that type of environment.

I haven't been to Camden, but I recently went to the Phillies new park. It is nice, maybe even cute, but really rinky-dink. It reminded me more of the local minor league park (Somerset Patriots) than an MLB Stadium.

Gerry, hate the devils? Sorry but I'm going to have to ask you to leave NJ.

maybe second only to The Roman Colosseum.
            What are you on jibby?

Baseball has very little signifcance outside of the US, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone in the UK that follows baseball. Football on the other hand is a worldwide sport, i bet if you took a poll in any country Old Trafford / Bernbau / Nou Camp or San Siro would kick the yanks ass. For my money Lords Cricket ground is up there at the top, but football is far more popular than cricket.

Also it's bit tastless calling the Colosseum a "sports" arena, considering the amount of blood that has been spilt there.

the colloseum was a "sports" arena to the caesars. they saw the maulings and deaths as entertainment. how is that not sport in your book?
stop trying to be american. its not gonna happen no matter how many green cards you get.
and you're gonna say nobody in the UK knows what Yankee stadium is? so no europeans like baseball?
thats like saying no americans like import beer.

I never said it wasn't a sports arena, just it is tasteless to call a blood sport entertainment, but techincally i suppose it is a sports arena.

In what way am i trying to be an american? Why the fuck would i want a green card? The last person i want my tax dollars going to is George W.

To call the yankies stadium the most well known or #1 or best in the world is just plain wrong. It's like the "world series" where ONE country takes part. There is no global involvement. IMO if you asked a cross section of people (globally) to name the #1 stadium in the world then it would a football (soccer) stadium as world wide soccer is far more popular than baseball. Apart from Nicaragua can you name one other baseball league outside N America?

                    Re: New York Yankees

i just go the scoop from my friend...apparently steinbrenner is paying $850 million of the $1.1 billion stadium, so it won't cost the city or the fans that much. right now it has 5000 parking spots...they're adding 6000 more, so there will be plenty of parking with crosswalks, etc. And it will be similar to the camden yards set up, where everthing is inside the stadium walls. i'm gonna ask him if he can suggest that they put in some rub-n-tugs. i'd go just for that...and i'm a met fan.

In fact the MLB is very international, especialy in central and south America, but also in Asia. Korea and Japan are huge. You're actually worse than what you accuse us of: just because people from your country don't play, it must not be international.

The current stadium will be left intact... It will be a museum and will also be used for HS Baseball games as well...

This stadium is going to be sick.

I'm a huge fan of tradition but just like anything times are changing. Yes it will be EXTREMELY weird not to see the old stadium but it'll become waht other old torn down stadiums have become memories.

regarding, the old Yankee stadium, they're not going to tear it down completely. The are actually from what I've read are going to leave the field with some of the seats so they can hold major baseball events for Kids like little league games and H.S. games, which is pretty sweet for a kid.
