and it was still a screw up when it was launched because the refraction angle of the sensors caused the images to be blurred because of a manufacturing defect in the lens. They had to retrace their manufacturing steps to the very beginning, realize where the error was, install an off-center sensor to correct the defect and then produce the results it has been for the last 10 years. NASA at its finest (and I say that as a compliment).
