i got a flight in a bit, im sitting at the airport.

i just tried to send a DxDIag report to cust support for GW, but when i went to send it in hotmail, the server refused to allow me to send the report because it contained a virus that couldnt be cleaned , what does this mean?? i ran norton anti virus on the whole comp and it came up clean. i can cut and paste the report if someone knows what they are doing

    Re: Help Quick computer question

Those virus scanners get a bit retarded. Some of them are designed to try and be smart and pick up things they think may be viruses, but haven't actually been discovered as viruses yet if you know what I mean. They use various algorithms to try and work out if something potentially may be dangerous.

It's no guarentee but try zipping the diag report you're trying to send, then send the zip file. Trouble is some of these scanners may actually scan files within a zip. You could try renaming the file but I'm guessing you'll run into the same problems. Maybe renaming the zip will help, forcing the scanner not to look inside it.

Failing all this you could find some webspace somewhere, host it there and then provide the url to it in the email.

sorry I just got this :?

I agree with Syntax--If you need to ensure that it gets through the mail system, zip it with a password, then rename the zip to a .TXT. Just email the file and the password to the recipient with directions for unzipping, and all should be good to go. It's somewhat of a PITA, but I've seen in many companies that it's the only thing you can do to get around the email filters
