    Soundcloud question.

I've just realised that i'm missing a lot of mixes and stuff from the djs i`m following ... I can recall this happening in the past here and there but now it seems like a bit out of control..

This is happening to anyone else? And there is any way to fix it? should i maybe unfollow some not much relevant Djs? Not sure if that might help though.

    Muchos gracias

This looks interesting .. Soundcloud Go

After years of negotiating with the music industry, signing labels big and small one by one, SoundCloud is finally launching its paid subscription service.

Lets see how it goes, could be good.

this is pretty weak, so we used to get high quality 320 download links from robot heart on Burning Man, Danny Howells ect.

Now we get no download links and a low quality stream and they want us to pay $120.00 bucks a year for that??? What a JOKE!!

When the "intellectual owners" get into the game, it's over. So we have this phenomenon of people playing SC or You Tube rips, not counting the ftps and blogs that spread those same rips as 320kbs.

yesterday I heard a commercial on soundcloud while driving, for Verizon wireless, the part of the advertisement at the end which is all the fine print being read was about a minute long and was sped up extremely fast, sounding a like a chipmunk on meth

It was fun while it lasted...

                Re: Soundcloud question.

The irony is that sooner or later SC could turn into a streaming service, you know, the ones that pay artists 1 cent every million plays.

But the one thing that annoys me to death is that labels and DJs can have your account closed because you used one of their tracks in a dj mix, when they do just the same when THEY post a mix, wtf! Do they pay the film studio for the cool spoken intro? Do they pay for the mainstream tracks they use?? Why are they allowed to use them????

They aren't -and big name DJs get kicked out too. But they're still just the same as the random bedroom DJ. The workaround? No download option. Genius!

                  Re: Soundcloud question.

So not much people loving Soundcloud go this far right? lol

                  Atish:

"As you may know, I'm an artist heavily into soundcloud. It's the core of my music career and the first thing I link to when somebody asks for my online artist presence (I also take pride in having more soundcloud followers than Facebook followers, implying people know me more for my music than my social media hype).I think today's launch is pretty cool for dance music heads like you and me for a few reasons:
                  - For those who listen to soundcloud on airplanes, in subways, or in countries where data ain't cheap, they can now sign up have offline access to soundcloud. I always find it extremely LAME when DJs don't make their mixes downloadable to jack up their listener counts. I also find it annoying that I have to manage my mp3 collection in iTunes to listen to my friends' mixes when traveling. People should be able to listen to music when they want, and this makes it easier to do that
                  - There were many behind-the-scenes record label contracts that lead up to the point of making this possible. Long story short, this means the number of DJ mixes that get taken down for copyright infringement will be *drastically* reduced. I've had a few mixes of my own taken down over the years which really sucks, and I'm glad to see that likely won't happen anymore.
                  - As touched on above, soundcloud now has legal access to the music from the major record labels. Let's see how this plays out in practice, but theoretically this may replace my need for spotify (I am already a proud-paying spotify premium subscriber - worth every cent), which consequently means soundcloud may have more access to music than spotify because of their existing access to independent artists (like me)
Overall, I'm pretty happy to see a new life injected into this product..let's see how it goes"

He seems to be optimistic with the idea and kind of so do i .... Will see how it goes, maybe they will fix some visible wrong things too, i dont know.

                    125 million songs!!

124 million of them are homemade dubstep cuts.

if i were sc i wouldn't feel confident in my new business model, it just doesn't have the pull that the likes of spotify, apple music and google play have plus sc has pissed off a lot of its customer base who will never use the service again

personally i can see this falling flat on its arse and that will be the end of sc

Well, in my opinion business decisions not always are easy and confident to take.. And many times risk is proportional to earnings.. Looks like this is an "all in" play for them and honestly i see potential in it even considering some weak issues

you have to admit its up against some pretty formidable competition, they say its been 3 years in the making! i think if they had launched it 3 years ago then imo it might of stood a chance but i think the competition will just under cut it out the market simply because they have a larger customer base

looks less like 3 years in the making and more like a last minute scramble trying to salvage the platform after major label scrutiny.

they probably offered them a deal rather than suing them in court... i've not had the pleasure of trying this out ( its not available in the uk yet ) but from reading up on it i really don't see anything unique about it
