    NICK AND JOHN DALAGELIS

The fresh upstart recording duo of brothers has been long at their electronic music passion, for more years than most DJs that are 10 years their senior. At the tender ages of 25 and 24 respectively, their influences are way beyond the scope of any of their contemporaries. Born in America, but raised in Greece, the boys have meticulously honed their craft and are ready for their close-up.

They started building their vinyl collection of (break beat, techno, trance, experimental) and DJing small parties in 1993 inspired by the big names of the time. Orbital, F.S.O.L., Aphex twin, LFO and some earlier synth pop groups like New Order & Kraftwerk were their early favorites at an age (13 & 12 yrs old), when most of their friends were consumed with school & football. A year after, they started hosting their own radio shows that would eventually stream to far out areas of Greece on the major Greek FM stations. Their eclectic & dynamic sound would bring them toward the art of producing their own music in years to come.

In 1998 while Nick kept collecting vinyl and streaming through the FM, John entered the DMC DJ Championship in Greece at the ripe age of 17. After winning the state champion he took place in the finals. Against the odds he scratched and cut up 4th place winning the accolades of the Greek music press who called him star of the night & best young dj. The industry took notice of this new wonderkid who was invited by Universal Trilogy (one of the leading Greek electronic dance act of the time) to join them as warm-up DJ for their European Tour. John would continue to tour and build his sound in his home country that would culminate in the gig of his life by being invited to play the opening slot on Orbital?s first ever tour of Greece in 2000. As if this man?s rap sheet wasn?t long enough, he also graduated as a sound engineer from the French Institute of Pasteur increasing even further his experience and knowledge at such young age.

From this point, the brothers made the difficult decision to uproot and move to New York City where they felt was the epicenter for the music they were so involved in. Setting up the Dalasounds studio and getting to work on their productions was priority number one. Quickly the boys self released their first track in the USA called ?Fat Oscar? which gained praise from their intended targets. From this release, they became sought by their favorite labels that were after them for their remix touch. Remixes for labels owned by Satoshi Tomiie, Dave Seaman & Chris Fortier to name a few. Their passion, skills & knowledge brought more attention to Chris Fortier who asked them to work with him in the studio and his label (Fade). After their great remixing successes, their 2nd single ?Bend Up? was released by Italy?s Mo-do Recordings which brought the brothers even higher with not only never-ending DJ support, but also successful chart rankings on several of the sales chart indicators from the USA & UK. Their extended vocal remix of Micah?s ?Come From? was exclusively featured on Hernan Cattaneo?s Renaissance Masters 2 album and they have also put their producing, editing & engineering touch on Chris Fortier?s latest compilation (Balance 007).

The future ahead is as busy as can be for the young lads as they have many things on the go. Next, their latest production ?Quiet (Steve is listening)? will be one of the main features on the forthcoming Audio Therapy album ?Across Borders? based on producers hailing from Greece. This album will also have Nick and John on the road to promote it. They continue to have a bi-weekly radio show on Eccentric beats as well as hitting the international circuit with gigs in North America, Europe and Australia.
From breaks to prog and tech to more experimental, Nick and John?s dj and production style can be described as a combination of lush atmospheric sound scapes, tweaked effects along driving basslines and powerful percussive rhythms.
