    Re: War Of The Worlds

Worst movie in a long time. First you can?t get a grip on the story because the story is about screams. Screams here and there, non stop. Then tom cruise being a low life wannabe dad is truly not believable. The kid character has a personality of about a 25 year old but has a face about 15, the girl with claustrophobia? typical. Not to mention the tripod which collects humans, what for?And the people inside the tripod cage, all with mint clothing.

If you really want to see it don?t keep on reading.

And Of course the aliens, obviously, black skin, black big eyes, 4 legs, no clothing, and obviously bread air, and can stand the earth?s atmosphere pressure, solar radiation, and gravity. But of course bacteria and virus are taken into account.

What really is the thing is how they are vanquished. . . . Could someone think of something else please ? water. Yeah the good old water that saved us in ?signs? movie, saved us again, only this time it had bacteria in it, just as it has always had.

Well, black skin, big eyes ,naked, water vulnerable aliens ? the modern man?s fear.

I really think Spielberg?s edge has been completely lost, 100% predictable, no new ideas, no new concepts, old school media bull****.

they had 3 legs and they were grey i thought, no braids either...

anyway i agree with you for the most part.. special effects were sick, but it did seem like th emovie lacked a real plot or reason for what was happening .... i would've been a way better movie if they led up to the end.. all the sudden the indestructable machines are beat.. ..
i even thought that by killing one of the machines they threw of their sync and thats why they started dying...

overall entertaining, but very disapointing...you walk out of the theater feeling cheated

The movie just ends. You keep thinking something will happen and it doesn't. It also has too many unexplained pts, which adds to its utter stupidity. How does the son get home... Who the hell knows. We are just suppose to believe the mother and stepfather and alive and well and no worse for the wear? a few positives moments - the effects are good, but really nothing special.
The story sucks and therefore the whole movie sucks. that`s my opinion

I think war of the worlds should have been left as audio!
The imagination is a far more powerful tool than Spielberg!!

                Re: War Of The Worlds

It was a big, dumb hollywood chase film with really great special effects and a fairly simple & porous plot. Enjoyable (if you can suspend disbelief), but little substance to be found. I thought the cop-out with the son turning up at the end was just stupid and uncalled for (yeah, he somehow escaped the inferno ). And why the hell did the aliens leave Boston pretty much untouched even after destroying pretty much everything else? Sox fans?

I may be alone here, but I thought the reason why the aliens died at the end was a pretty cool idea and didn't need to be changed from the original (probably the biologist in me  ). Just goes to show that if we ever get invaded by a superior race of aliens with bigger guns than us, we are pretty much fucked unless we get really lucky. :P

Oh, and if that little girl had let out one more fucking annoying scream, I swear I would have thrown my beer bottle through the damn screen.

This movie was indeed a let down. I never saw Tom Cruise acting so weak.

Why not; suspend judgement too, and later suspend reason. Then you are set to go

                      Re: War Of The Worlds

this movie was shit. anyone can make shit with special effects and call it an entertaining film. at least have the courtesy of writing a better script. but i will say the most believable part of the movie was when cruise and kids get manhandled by the angry mob trying to get in their minivan.

i had more fun watching the old war of the worlds mini-series from the 80s than this. at least i was entertained by the mini-series rather than feeling like part of the the angry mob after watching the movie
