this! of course, first thing every time I moved. In my last place living alone, I even designed and built some acoustic treatment. Awesome! then came wife and doughter, and moved.

Accuphase??? nooooooo sad news you had to sell it, it´s perfect.

I have a Luxman amp, new line, and I have to say it´s great and it´s beautiful (It looks like an Accuphase, without the class-A thing). I´m waiting for my new speakers to arrive. I´m actually using a pair of Focal chorus 726v, that sound good but are way too short for the Luxman´s audio quality.

    My favourite way as well.

NAD amp and cd player , big set of Audiolab speakers, which I am not totally happy with, ok but room for improvement, and a pair of NAD bookshelf speakers for my workshop. I have a pair of Bose 901s but I have to refoam them, and a pair of Mission 730 s that also need refoaming. Luxman and Dual turntables , neither of which working at the moment I have a lot not working at the moment.

I don't really do anything on my Mac except preview tracks. My lazy way is to plug in my AK100 to my music system. I bought it as a portable player, it sounds amazing !! but it is a pain in the arse to use ! Even switching it on is annoying, it goes through this startup thing every time. I was going to sell it but it is great for playing through my music setup. I don't have a car so walk a lot for that at the moment it is a 7th gen Classic iPod 160 and iGrado headphones . I am currently looking for a refurbed iPod classic 5.5 gen. It has the same Wolfson dac as the the AK100 but iPods are so much more user friendly .

Btw I have always bought my music systems by listening, I am definitely not an audiophile I got into all sorts of trouble on Head-fii when I knocked the AK100 . I can't believe people carry around amps with a portable player.

    It's fun talking music

Basically, I have 2 ways of listening to music.
    1) for playing CD's: Marantz CD-6005, Pioneer A-676, Wharfedale 510.2 <---my full music setup
    2) PC (youtube, soundcloud, mixcloud, mp3 & flac collection) using headphones

Playing cd's over a quality stereo system with loudspeakers is still my favorite way of listening to music.
Also very happy with the Marantz cd player. With a 32GB USB stick plugged in, it's like having a 40 disc CD-changer
    And it plays mp3 too!

If I want to play a real CD in a cd player, I have to turn my living room upside down.

And what are you, a bat?
If you can prove that you can hear the difference in a well designed listening test, you'll be the first.

You rely on Youtube or Soundcloud when you get lazy and have terabytes of music and it would take a day to find your file.

Higher bit-depth (24 bit is the max) clearly improves the quality of your playback. The difference between an SD tv and an HD one is pretty obvious, isn't it.

As for kHz, with 96 is really hard to tell the difference. And 192 it's beyond our hearing's capabilities.

You can go higher, but you will not hear any difference, it will only take more space.
Maybe there is more to listening to music than just hearing. The big problem is that poor recording can still be done in high resolution. And sometimes great recording sounds really good. I buy my tracks in AIFF/WAV and in some of them the quality is still terrible, particularly the ones from when I first started buying . It's quite frustrating when I shuffle them.

Youtube is not cd quality, no doubt about that. But some clips sound very good.
    Listen to this for example:

    Sample rate: 44100 Hz
    Channels: 2
    Bitrate: 192 kbps
    Codec: AAC
    Codec profile: AAC LC
    Encoding: lossy

I don't have this on cd, but I doubt I would be able to pick this out in a listening test.

^^ Cds are one hell of a lot better than Youtube. Better than most of the sets as well. Most digital files are are 16. In fact we here in Australia can't get even buy 24 bit.

CDs are barely quality. Redbook (the standard for CDs) supports up to 24 bit but all we get is 16. The only thing I agree with is that files tend to disappear in your hard-disks, so whenever you want to listen to something you end up searching YouTube because you have no idea of where the file is.
