Chris Fortier in NOLA last Saturday(july 30)

Went to see Chris Fortier last weekend in New Orleans. Fuckin awesome party. At the Dragon's Den, which is a small, dirty intimate and perfect setting to hear good underground sounds. Chris came on about 1:15-1:30am and was scheduled for a 5 hour set. Since my friends and I are getting old now.....we left about 5 am. I think the party went till about 7:30am. Great set, crowd danced all night long, no cellphone play on the dancefloor. Crowd was still going strong when I left. Wish I had stayed a bit longer but my friends were spent and I had a blast. Glad to have caught Fortier because I havent seen him since 2002 and been listening to his recent sets alot. Thanks Chris for a great night.

Bummed I couldn't make this. Glad to hear you had a great time. Gomez and co. deserve much respect for keeping an underground dance scene prominent in NOLA. Great sound system he's put together. I always have a blast at their Kompression parties.

Music is the answer, to your problems. Keep on movin', till you solve them.

Yeah it was nice to hit an underground kind of party in New Orleans. Its been about 5 since I saw a good DJ( it was Danny Howells and Lee Burridge) in New Orleans. Great sound system in a nice dirty small venue. Best party Ive been to in years and one of my favorite nights of all time.
Usually I have to go to Houston and its not as underground a scene there. Its mostly EDM djs ive never heard of and occasionally Sasha or John Digweed comes through as they did in the last couple years. So I go maybe once a year and its a big open room venue. Not a bad club but no character and not exceptionally underground or intimate. Dont get me wrong Sasha last year and Digweed in 2013 were awesome no matter the venue. But this was a nice change of atmosphere.
Love Chris Fortier too, hes always been a fav and his recent sets kick ass. Im gonna go listen to his old Bedrock cd now....

He was really great !! Lot's of lovely complex DANCE music. Danced my arse off Really frustrating that he didn't have the audience he deserved. I really don't know how that promoter calls himself a promoter, because he certainly doesn't promote. I would never have known about this gig if this thread hadn't started and I googled to see what Chris was up to and found a moshtix link for tickets. And that was all I found , couldn't even get up a event page on Facebook.

^^ Glad he was good and you enjoyed yourself. Running a successful "Promotions Business" somewhat counter intuitively is not necessarily about how many asses you actually get through the door or how many drinks and other things you sell. It can be and has been used for many years at least in Australia as a highly efficient form of money laundering and tax minimisation all while indulging your own interests.
