So... I recently befriended a 20 year old gal. I'm twice her age. We got to talking about music, DJs, etc. and I asked her for her favorites. Skrillex, Diplo, and Steve Aoki. You know where this is heading... ha ha.
No really, so I told her about Digweed and she did not know. So she got home and messaged me: "I listened to Digweed. I don't like it b/c it's the same beats over and over and it should have lyrics."
Without going all DJ-snob, this is an honest request for advice. What's the best way to introduce the current crop of EDMers into I guess what we now call as underground? Short of taking her to a Digweed live (which is not possible, we live in different countries), what would be a good way? Progressive house often does not reward with instant gratification and you have to be patient... very different from today's EDM. If she likes EDM, that's fine. But wouldn't it be so nice if she could experience the other side too?
