The first one was probably one of the best action movies that's come out of the US in years. Excellent action choreography, stylish, creates a great fantasy universe and Keanu Reeves delivering minimal dialogue - it really made use of all its strengths.

This is a pretty decent sequel - they keep the best aspects of the original - the gun fu/action fight choreography, the cartoonish underground society of assassins is expanded on and given more detail, Keanu Reeves having minimal dialogue, and a rogues gallery of colorful and interesting side players and villains. And the film changes it's look from the more grimy, greasy streets of New York for museums and some incredibly vivid locations located in Rome.
One of the directors dropped out from the original, but John Wick: Chapter 2 is still a very fine, very strong U.S. action film that proves the series has legs and I'm looking forward to Chapter 3, whenever they get filming that.
