would have preferred to buy this in proper quality tho,

^^ Yes it does work until I put it into itunes to put into my iPod and then it reverts to the original It is actually a lower volume than the other Residents .

This is the waveform:

so you can't boost it without clipping. it's already full scale.

You can perhaps make it a little bit louder using an Equalizer (Bass down, Mid and Highs up)
or use a compressor. That will make it louder. But not better.
Not worth the effort in my opinion. I say play it at home and use the amplifier's tone controls. Bass a little bit down,
and turn the volume up!
just 30 minutes in and loving this already

Thank you , That is exactly what I have been doing. But I do an awful lot of my listening on the move. I still can do that , but I would have liked it just a tad louder. But I really don't like fiddling with original anyway. I'll be happy with this.
