../ Ultra, Morillo Partner On New Super Club
According to recent rumors, the company behind the Ultra Music Festival is partnering with DJ and label owner Erick Morillo on a new New York City super club launching in the Fall of 2005.
Morillo who has been linked to efforts to relaunch a new version of Sound Factory in Manhattan appears to be partnering with Ultra owners Alex Omes and Russell Faibisch to create the new super club. The rumors gained traction last week when Ultra announced a New York City based Ultra Music Festival slated for September 16th in New York's Central Park that features Morillo, as well as the Chemical Brothers and Paul Oakenfold.
The Ultra Music Festival is an annual event that takes place in Miami during the Winter Music Conference. The New York City event is part of a larger scale expansion that will bring the festival to other cities in the future. For the Central Park show, Ultra the festival is working with Ultra the well-known label who's compilations are the training wheels of new dance music fans everywhere.
The Future: Does New York City need yet another Super Club? Why not?! Unfortunately, the Ultra Music Festival is not known for innovation, it's known for its uncanny ability to assemble 40,000 punters in one place...no small feat. Ultra's marketing muscle married to Morillo's music sensibilities is a recipe for success...in fact, look for an Ultra EZ-Pass in the future for pouring the bridge-in-tunnel crowd into NYC even faster...
