A recording of Danny Howells, playing around with ideas for his 2007 Essential Mix. Recorded at home, recorded over several hours. This has been edited to make it as seamless as possible. This is more Techno than some people maybe used to from Danny. But for me it was one of those sets that you put on expecting one thing and get something completely different and think what the fuck! But in a good way.
This is something that would have probably have never got heard, if it was not for myself and Danny. So if you don't like it, please download another set.
When is a mix not a mix? Here's the answer.
Back in 2007 I was buying at least one box of records a week from, I think, Massive in Oxford, Hedonizm in Brighton and 3 Beat in Liverpool. This was in addition to the untold amount of vinyl and mp3 promos I was still being sent.
When it was time to do my 2007 Essential Mix I had an absolute stack of directions I could have gone in and had no clue what I was going to do, so one evening I just stayed in, with a bottle of wine (and probably a huge biffter, as I smoked then) and spent the night playing mainly new tunes and recording it, so I could listen in the car the next day.
I didn't listen to it again and, from skipping through the upload, the Essential Mix found it's own, different direction any way.
More of a "curio" than a mix. Think of it as a night round mine with wine, vulgar language and me putting records on
Cheers and thanks to Chris for editing these CDs into something hopefully coherent. (I think there were gaps in the original recordings where I was on the phone or went to the loo etc.)
