What a night. Got to Space a little late because they decided to completely close I-95 on saturday night but other than that a really good night.
Ivan Bellini (or something) (space resident i think) was playing the main room when I got there. He was really not that good. Pretty plain generic songs that really didnt get my attention. Seemed a bit hard for an opening dj as well.
Finally around 2:15 or so Hernan Finally got on the decks. As many of you know I am a huge fan and expect alot from hernan. and its sad to say but I was extremely disappointed. He was playing some heavier material but alot of the songs just seemed to drag out, really not going anywhere....at times, I seeemed to just get really board with the traks. I couldnt even get into it enough to dance much....and the programming was alll over the place. It seemed to me that Hernan was really not able to connect with the space main floor crowd at all. I am not sure if he seemed totlay into it...
... Also the crowd was pretty lame. Many Many guys and alot of really young kids that probably had no clue who hernan even was. At exactly 5 am Hernan was finished playing. He didnt evne aknowledge the crowd before he left...It was just like he was gone...(He didnt even make it 3 hrs)
Now the good part. When Hernan had finished the main floor I went immediatly up to the Terrace. Some space resident playing. But within 20 minutes or so Hernan is up on the decks on the terrace.
OMFG. I am still totally blown away by the relentless sick twisted trax he was playing on the terrace. It really was like a total different Hernan playing up there. For those of you who think hernan plays to soft. Think again. He was playing the most heaviest darkest twisted material I have heard anybody play since digweed back in his prime. It was truly an awe inspiring perfomance that instilled all the respect I had seem to lose down on the main flooor. The crowd was totaly different as well. The whole place was just going off the entire time. Everyone was feeling every single beat that was pumping out of those speakers. Amazing Amazing set. Hands down, Hernan definaly is the best dj when he is on....
Unfortunaly I had to leave at 7 am because my buddy had to work the next day. Hopefully He was almost finished because it was killing me to have to leave. I am still blown away by the quality of tunes he saved for the terrace. Just floorkiller after floorkiller and the programming was outta this world...and the trax were somehow gettting better and better....Just shaking my head in disbelief most of the tiime.
