    Interview with D:Fuse

For most electronic artists, the making of an album is a well rehearsed experience involving a lot of mixing, re-recording, second takes, and months in a studio. But on July 29th, Texan DJ D:Fuse will record his forthcoming mix CD, People_3 in just a few hours when he records it live at Mighty, San Francisco. He's doing more than setting up two turntables and a microphone, mind you. He rolls in with guitar, bass, keyboards, an MC, and a full percussion set including bongos, congas, and tablas. I tried to make D:Fuse nervous and rile him up with talk of the pressure of live recording, but the man stayed rock steady with his eyes on the prize of performing.

"I don't like having sex with music on- I find it distracting. And if it's a mix cd- forget it. I'm stopping to check the beat mixing in between tracks." - Tom Stephan

I am not so keen about the MC but this project sounds interesting indeed. I am definately looking forward to this one.

Sounds interesting but I could do without the MC part as well. Mc always seem to ruin mixes.

Saw him live when he came to Columbus last time. It was him and two cdj-1000's and a hand sonic from roland so he could make more percussion over what was playing. I really dug it for the first 15 minutes, than it got boring. I have never been able to get into one of his cd's. To me he picks songs like Sandra Collins does. Go listen to her Cream cd after listening to his first perfecto cd. They are not all that different in terms of feel.

I hope this live album is worth checking out.
