    breaks

    dj's need glasses ...
fucked off with the growing trend of dj's doing the breaks thing . if they looked beyond the first 10 rows of kids looking up to them with love and wonder begging for the beats to kick in .. and see in the distance the fed up faces of the adults who love music and prefer the build up of fine progressive .. maybe they'd realise letting the night flow is what we realy want .

    Re: breaks

Prog breaks can be great, believe me. At least, I prefere breaks above the minimal techy stuff of this year. Hey, you won't say me you dislike breaks like Luke Chable ones?

      Re: breaks

chable does better tracks and remixes than sets .. but all i am saying is too many dj's think they are teasing and toying with the crowd knocking beats off at the start of everytrack for 30 secs or more instead of letting a mood build ..

        Re: breaks

zabiella can spin some good breaks, luke chable as well
in my opinion, to set a mood in a progressive set u need break beat too, sasha use to play before at every 3 or 4 tracks a break beat track, and the sets sounded really good.
i believe djs use break beat tracks to go to higher or lower beats, breack beat its like an interlude in a progressive set

          Re: breaks

a good dj should know his vinyls and know how to work up the beats smoothly .. just knocking the beats off in order to change is either poor craftsmanship or not the reason he's doing it ..

            Re: breaks

i'm not pro, it is my opinion based on what i listened, that in a progressive set, break beats sound good , and, the beats before and after the breaks track, sometime sound different.

                        Interesting thoughts.

House or prog or what ever genre of dance music that has a straight 4/4 beat is basically the only type of music that has a beat like that.

Rock, hip hop, disco, metal, pop, country, blah blah blah, all have a form of broken beat. So why is it suddenly boring to hear a broken beat in a dance set?

                          Re: breaks

i suppose the difference is .. is whether u go to a club and listen to the music or u go to a club and feel the music .. rythm is what makes dance music what it is and when u break the rythm u lose what it's all about

                            Try saying that over there

Personally I love nothing more than some hardcore breakz. But each to their own I guess.
